Great Tour of Ketchikan and Its History - Gatlin was our guide for this excursion that we selected as part of a Princess Alaskan cruise. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed learning about Ketchikan and its history. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Very good ... but... - The guide, Tori, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about accuracy regarding totem poles and all things tribal. She shared great techniques for taking photos (all smartphone, no DSLR), like how best to photograph totem poles, and showed us some great photo opportunities we might not have noticed ourselves. HOWEVER, we did not go to nearly as many locations as advertised. We spent a long time at Potlatch park, then we did the drive past the Green Bean Coffee Company, where a flask of fresh coffee and some delicious cookies was collected, which we then enjoyed while stopped at the site from which we could see the float plane dock. We then (briefly) went to the Totem Heritage center, before going to Creek street. After this we were taken back to the boat or dropped off in the town. So, as far as I can tell, several locations, like "FLOWING WATERS WILDERNESS site", "CARLANNA CREEK WATERFALLS", and the Ketchikan Harbor, advertised as included in the itinerary, were NOT covered. This was disappointing to me. Had I known, I likely would not have taken the tour.

Truly, Off the Beaten Path with Tori - Tori did an amazing job as our guide. She had exceptional insight about the island, indigenous history and tribe/clan culture. The tour was truly off the beaten path! Great time. A bit of phone photography insight more than camera, but very beneficial nonetheless.

Highly recommend this Photo Safari! - Highly recommend this tour! Gatlin Swan was our master photographer/ guide. The small size of this excursion appealed, especially after being on a cruise ship. This photo tour will give you an overview of the highlights and history of Ketchikan. It is both a walking tour as well as a comfortable van ride. The snacks were homemade cookies by a local vendor and coffee brewed locally. Incredible! Ask for Gatlin!

Perfect for everyone! - We just came back from our Alaskan cruise and one of the excursions we went on was the photo safari with Angela Ledyard. She was the perfect guide! Teaching us how to make our photos more interesting and how to keep an eye out for the special shots! Best of all, she catered to all - those new to using their iPhones, those with iPhone experience who could learn some new tricks and those with “fancy” cameras - how to set shutter speed, etc. Truly everyone got something out of the experience. She was great!

Disappointed - Disappointed in the number of locations visited, only three. Did enjoy learning about totem poles, the guide's family narratives, and interesting tips on how to take better photos with an Iphone or Android, but was expecting so much more in photo opportunities and locations.

Painful - We only went to one place. It was a cool place, however, we expected to go to about eight different places for a photo at each place. The one place is an old fishing village and it was a cool place, we just didn’t expect to spend the entire time there as we did is all. The guide was fine and informative, we just would have enjoyed seeing more than a single place. The company lists about eight sites and they need to say that they will only be going to one or two of them, since that is obviously what they are going to do. It should be made clear from the get go that you’ll be standing outside the whole time and at a single destination. I wasn’t prepared for walking and standing for hours, I thought we would be seeing lots of different places and sitting down in the van going to one place and then another and another, and I had too much sun and since I have a very bad back, standing and walking for hours is very painful and I hadn’t brought sunscreen as I thought I’d only be outside the van doe ten minutes at a time at most. Nothing against the guide, I just think the company needs to warn guests and tell them what really to expect is all.
