Unforgettable - My daughter and I sailed on the Aleutian Ballad on May 19, 2026. The ship was comfortable and dry and had food, drink, and gear for sale. We learned so much about crab fishing from the crew, who were all retired from that very business. We fed Eagles, visited with crabs, various types of Alaskan sealife, including an Octopus, and heard many stories about life at sea. The crew made this trip unforgettable.

Amazing Ketchikan Experience! - The fisherman on the boat were absolutely entertaining and genuine! The sea life was up close and personal! The whole staff was kind and helpful! Anna gave us a tip on the best place to sit on the boat and we were not disappointed! They even gave us coats to keep us warm. I would do this adventure again and learn 100 more new things!

Get a Taste of the Deadliest Catch - The folks that run this tour are the main attraction. Their years of experience make for an authentic tour experience and terrific stories of fishing in the Bering Sea. The demonstrations are first rate and visiting the eagles was a highlight for us. The boat has been fitted to accommodate tours. Don't let rain stop you. You will stay dry! This is a tour I would recommend for all ages.

Probably one of our best worldwide experiences - We spent a lot of money to cruise Alaska and paid outrageous sums for whale watching expeditions in the wind and rain through our cruise line. We booked this experience on our own and honestly couldn’t tell you how much we paid for it. On the other excursions, we paid a premium to have the cruise line arrange it. Ketchikan was our first port-of-call on our cruise. We would not even waste your time wandering around Ketchikan unless you want to pick up some cheap swag. We wandered a bit and then checked in with the boat. Being some of the first people on the boat we watched the guys, not the ticket people or helpers, load the disabled people on the boat and get them in proper seats in front where they could see and be comfortable. It showed caring and genuine respect for their customers. At the end of the trip, everyone had an opportunity to be photographed with the crew and, again, they made a special effort to be sure the disabled and elderly had an a chance to have their photo taken. The storied past of the crew was incredible as they had overcome personal challenges. They people who were cold jackets. We saw whales early in the year and also the eels, lobster, clams and other assorted sea creatures that you see so many reviews highlighting. Our other excursions? We got soaked a crammed in 5 seats across with steamed up windows watching nothing but big waves. Skip the other excursions, just get off briefly at the other tourist towns and save a lotta cash just doing this trip. Probably our best day since we hiked down a Swiss mountain a few years ago. Life has no guarantees, but we would say 90% chance of success on this trip.

Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour - 5 ***** this was an awesome tour. From the Alaska King Crab that you can have as a meal on board to the holding of sea life that has been caught, not to mention the Pacific Octopus plus .... an American Eagle "The Birds" encounter, yes American Eagles were flying all around the vessel because this vessel has permission from the Tribal community to feed the Eagles. I did not know about this ahead of time so this was an unexpected pleasure to see these magnificent birds up close. And, as an added bonus, got to meet Captain Ron from The Deadliest Catch! And the history of the Aleutian Ballad was heartwarming and heartbreaking because their most personal moments were shared.

Real depiction of the industry - This tour is about what a crab boat does and how it does it. It does not catch king crab. They don’t live in this water. The crew was knowledgeable believable and personable. They shared their life as crabbers. They then did long lining. Actually did drop lines and caught fish. They set small crab and prawn pots They showed as much wildlife as they could. Well worth the price . Full three hours
