Maasai Mara National Reserve - The driver guide will pick up guests from their Nairobi hotel between 7 AM and 8 AM. The morning drive leads to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the northern extension of the Serengeti, renowned as one of Kenya’s premier game-viewing destinations. Spanning 700 square miles, this breathtaking wilderness embodies the quintessential African landscape, with endless acacia-dotted grasslands and misty hills. An afternoon game drive offers the chance to witness the sunset and spot large prides of lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and numerous other plains animals. All meals and overnight stay at Mara Jambo or a similar accommodation.
Maasai Mara Full Day
Maasai Mara National Reserve - Enjoy a full day of game viewing and exploration in this remarkable park. The Mara is legendary for its abundant wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, various gazelle species, and zebras. Cheetahs and leopards are frequently seen, while rhinos are less common. The annual wildebeest migration, a spectacular natural event, occurs from July to September, attracting large animals and their predators. The reserve is also home to several species of Bee-Eater, the vibrant birds that top the Mara’s avian list. Additionally, the Maasai Mara is inhabited by the colorful Maasai tribe, often seen near the park’s borders. Visitors may encounter Morans (warriors) traversing the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders gathered under a tree discussing daily matters. A visit to a Maasai boma (homestead) offers insight into their unique culture and customs.
Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru National Park - After breakfast, depart Maasai Mara in the morning and travel through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru, a shallow alkaline lake famous for its stunning flamingo population, one of the world’s most remarkable ornithological spectacles. While primarily a bird sanctuary, Lake Nakuru is home to a variety of large game animals, including zebras, elephants, and gazelles, offering an excellent opportunity to spot rhinos. Lake Nakuru National Park was the first designated rhino reserve in Kenya and is one of the few places to see Rothschild’s giraffes.
Nakuru to Nairobi
Nairobi - After an early breakfast, spend the morning in Nakuru Park, where numerous flamingos and other birds can be observed [about 350 species recorded]. The park is also a sanctuary for black and white rhinoceroses and is dedicated to protecting endangered species like the rhino. It is also home to colobus monkeys, leopards, giraffes, and various plain antelope. After lunch, return to Nairobi with a drop-off at the Nairobi Hotel or Airport.
