Arrival at the Tented Camp or Lodge in Masai Mara is just in time for lunch. Following this, the first exhilarating game drive in the Masai Mara game reserve begins, a premier safari destination in East Africa. The Mara reserve spans 1510 km² of stunning, expansive landscapes and lush riverine woodlands, tracing the winding Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. A single glance reveals its allure; it is quintessential open savannah, teeming with remarkable wildlife. After the initial exploration of Masai Mara, dinner is enjoyed, and relaxation under the stars ensues, with the soothing sounds of the bush lulling to sleep.
Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve
Maasai Mara National Reserve - The following day is dedicated to game viewing in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The full-day game drives are an opportunity to seek out Africa’s Big Five and the abundance of other wildlife residing in this expansive Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers breathtaking orange-hued sunsets, perfect for capturing on camera. Throughout the vast Masai Mara, wildlife sightings are frequent, including Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, and wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also plentiful. Lions are often seen either lounging after a hearty meal or scanning the plains for their next prey. Cheetahs and leopards are more elusive but fairly common. The highlight is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration in July and August, when millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti in search of lush pastures, before heading south again in October.
