Nairobi City - Maasai Mara National Reserve
Maasai Mara National Reserve - Today, you will be picked up from the airport or your hotel and given a pre-departure briefing before starting your safari. We will drive through the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley escarpment to Narok County, the land of the Maa people. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is part of the vast Serengeti plains, famous for the spectacular great wildebeest migration and home to the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino. The intercounty borders have divided these two great national parks. Arrive for lunch at the lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game drive. The Mara Reserve is part of the Mara Ecosystem, which includes the Mara Triangle and other conservancies like Ol Chorro Oirowua, Ol Derkesi, Lemek, Maji Moto, Koiyaki, and North Mara. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is also part of the Greater Ecosystem that extends to the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
Maasai Mara National Reserve - On the second day, you will wake up and have your morning breakfast. Today, you will enjoy a full-day game drive in the reserve with a picnic lunch. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. The Mara Triangle, bordering the Mara River with lush grassland and acacia woodlands, is always good for a game drive. The Mara is perhaps best known for the Great Migration, which takes place annually. During these months, the yellow savannah is dotted black by more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes migrating from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of food and water.
Maasai Mara National Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru National Park - After a sound sleep, you will wake up for a morning breakfast and then depart to Lake Nakuru National Park, one of the best national parks in Kenya, known for its Rift Valley soda lakes. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and shown to your room. After lunch, take a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, well known as a bird lover’s hub due to the numerous birds that call this park home. Lake Nakuru Park is home to over 400 bird species, including flamingos that live on the lake and in the park’s savannah grasslands. Bird species include the African Fish Eagle, Slender-billed Greenbul, Long-tailed Widowbird, Rufous-throated Wryneck, Montane White-eye, Red-capped Lark, Northern Puffback, Rüppell’s Robin-Chat, Shining Sunbird, and many more.
Lake Nakuru National Reserve - Lake Elementaita (Soda Lake)
Lake Elementaita - You will wake up for a morning breakfast and then depart to Lake Elementaita National Park. Upon arrival, you will receive a welcome drink and be shown to your room. After lunch, take a late afternoon guided leisure walk along the bird-rich lake. Lake Elementaita is a soda lake in the Great Rift Valley, about 120 km northwest of Nairobi, Kenya. The salt lake is known for its rich avifauna, including large concentrations of Greater and Lesser Flamingos. End up at the hot spring for a relaxing dip. Return to the lodge for dinner and a campfire thereafter.
Lake Elementaita (Soda Lake) - Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park - We will depart to Amboseli via Nairobi in the morning after breakfast. Drive south through Maasai County to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro, where Amboseli is situated. A scenic park in its own right, Amboseli is synonymous with two particular things: majestic herds of elephants and glorious views of Mount Kilimanjaro in neighboring Tanzania. After a picnic lunch en route with the majestic backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro, you can see spectacular displays of wildlife such as lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, cheetahs, buffalo, and various plains game. Postcard-perfect pictures are almost always guaranteed. Finally, you will return to your hotel.
Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park - Early morning wake-up with breakfast ready. Today, you will have your packed lunch for a full-day game drive. Proceed with more game drives in the park with a packed lunch in search of its popular residents like the well-known predators and their opponents like the Zebra, Wildebeest, and Giraffe. Amboseli National Park is one of the best-known wildlife destinations in Kenya, primarily for excellent sightings of elephants in the big marshy area and the magnificent view of Mount Kilimanjaro (Observation Hill offers the best vistas). Chase the perfect sight of a massive gathering of big-tusked elephants set against the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Amboseli National Park - Namanga - Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, you will drive out of the park with a view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, then drive to the border of Tanzania and Kenya at the Namanga border. After immigration clearance, you will be transferred to Tarangire National Park. One of the lesser-known game reserves in Tanzania, Tarangire rivals the Serengeti in its great number and diversity of wildlife. It is a good choice for travelers who wish to encounter more animals and fewer tourists while on safari. The Tarangire National Park is known as a wonderful birding destination and also features large numbers of animals, particularly during the dry season when the Tarangire River is the only source of water in the area. The landscape is of particular interest too, due to the high number of scenic baobab trees.
Tarangire National Park - Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, we will be transferred to the famous Serengeti National Park. This park is to Tanzania what the Masai Mara National Reserve is to Kenya. You will have a game drive in the famous Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is considered Tanzania’s best park. Big herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, and many antelope, such as eland, Topi, kongoni, and impala, are resident at any time of the year. All three big cats are easily seen. Lions are often found on a kill. Cheetahs are very common on the southeastern plains, while leopards can typically be found lazing in one of the big trees along the Seronera River. More than 350 species of birds, including ostriches, vultures, and flamingos in lesser numbers and not easy to spot, have also been recorded.
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - Today, you will head back for a full-day game drive in the famous Serengeti National Park. This park is to Tanzania what the Masai Mara Game Reserve is to Kenya. Covering 14,763 sq km, the Serengeti NP is dominated by vast, open plains with an abundance of wildlife. A picnic lunch will be provided en route, and the afternoon will be spent viewing game and absorbing the breathtaking scenery of the almost treeless plains of the Serengeti. After an early breakfast, we will proceed on an early morning game drive, returning for a hearty lunch.
Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - We will transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater via Olduvai Gorge. Ngorongoro is an impressive 20 km wide volcanic crater with 600 m walls. The views from the crater rim are breathtaking, and there is an ever-present abundance of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Olduvai Gorge is famed for the discovery of 3.5-million-year-old fossil fragments of an early human civilization. We will enjoy lunch overlooking the crater, and the afternoon will be spent at leisure. Accommodation at Eileen’s Trees Inn.
Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha Airport - Zanzibar
Zanzibar Island - In the morning, depending on your departure time, check out of the hotel for Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport. After boarding your flight, you will arrive at Zanzibar Airport. At the airport, you will be picked up by our hotel driver and taken to your hotel. You will be welcomed with a cold glass of juice. This will be your residence for the next three days, relaxing.
Zanzibar Island
Zanzibar Island - Today, after you enjoy your full buffet breakfast, you will have a full day of uninterrupted relaxation. After a long garden view with the sea breeze, you will have free time in a cool and quiet environment. It is a good time to take a walk around the hotel compound and interact with the local market. This day will be well spent on the beach. Activities include an excursion to Old Stone Town for an extra fee. The Stone Town of Zanzibar is a fine example of the Swahili coastal trading towns of East Africa. It retains its urban fabric and townscape virtually intact and contains many fine buildings that reflect its particular culture, which has brought together and homogenized disparate elements of the cultures of Africa, the Arab region, India, and Europe over more than a millennium.
Zanzibar Island
Zanzibar Island - Today, you will go on an excursion to the spice and fruit plantations close to Stone Town for the famous Spice Tour at an extra fee. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in-depth information not only about spices but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description of their traditional uses in medicine, cosmetics, and cooking. Pemba’s terrain is hilly and lushly vegetated, while much of the coast is lined with mangroves and lagoons, interspersed with idyllic beaches and islets. Offshore, coral reefs offer some of East Africa’s best diving.
