There will be a stop to explore one of these homes and wander through a vibrant flower garden dedicated to one of America’s beloved first ladies.
• Ocean Avenue - This stunning coastal route offers rocky cliffs, crashing waves, sandy beach vistas, and magnificent summer residences. It perfectly captures the essence of the Maine coast.
• St. Ann’s Episcopal Church - This iconic historic church boasts remarkable stone architecture, exquisite stained glass windows, and breathtaking ocean views. While observing the sailboats, the history of the site will be discussed, followed by a brief visit inside.
• Walker’s Point - Known as the former “summer White House,” this stop allows for photo opportunities and insights into the lives of Kennebunkport’s most renowned summer residents.
• Cape Porpoise - The journey continues through the picturesque fishing village of Cape Porpoise, where European settlers first arrived and where fishermen and lobstermen still practice their trades today.
• Cape Porpoise Pier - This active fishing and lobster pier offers spectacular harbor views. From here, the Goat Island Lighthouse, dating back to the 19th century, is visible. The lighthouse’s history will be shared, and there will be opportunities to photograph the beautiful ring of islands encircling the harbor.
