• Kelleys Island State Park - We start at the Kelleys Island State Park Kayak launch, with beautiful views of the North Bay, the beach and rock pier. After getting comfortable in the kayaks we paddle out of the bay and around to the North shore.
• Kelleys Island State Park - After leaving North Bay, we paddle along the beautiful North shore line for about 15 minutes to the Alvar State Preserve. Here we stop and explore this rare habitat finding fossils and glacial erratics while learning about island history. We board the kayaks again and paddle to our next adventure.
• North Pond State Nature Preserve - After we paddle across the bay we land on this beach to explore this all together different and unique habitat of North Pond. This rare lake embayment pond and barrier beach is a fascinating preserve and another quick rest break. Wild life viewings throughout the trip are frequent.
• Kelleys Island - The short return paddle takes us back to the launch site.

The Kelleys Island Treasure Tour starts and finishes at the Kelleys Island State Park kayak launch, where the expansive waters of Lake Erie unfold like a shimmering pathway ready for exploration. A welcoming guide greets the group, assists everyone in getting settled in a kayak and with a life jacket, and provides a brief, confidence-enhancing lesson on paddling and safety.

Once everyone is prepared, the group launches from the shore and glides onto the lake, following the guide over gentle waves towards two concealed island “treasures,” which are special state park sites accessible by water. At each location, participants disembark to explore, climb, and uncover the area’s distinctive features.

After visiting both treasures, the group paddles back across the lake, feeling stronger and more assured than at the start. The entire adventure lasts about two hours, with the guide accompanying the group throughout to ensure safety and share fascinating information about the island.
