The best museum I'd never heard of. - Remarkable museum in Kearney, Nebraska. Displays cover the pioneer migration and then the 20th Century development of the Lincoln Highway across the U.S. All exhibits are very well done.

Good time here. Good exhibits. - Driven under this several times over the years. Stopped in today and thoroughly enjoyed our 1.5 hours there. Great exhibits and audio tour.

An Absolute Must-See! - Have passed thru/under many times. Finally stopped & we're so glad we did! Positives: Everything! Excellent/beautiful grounds. Trails to walk. Ample parking for all vehicles. Clean indoor facilities. Gift shop, lovely & the historical information extremely excellently done & moving! We took the self-guided audio tour (which is affordable & also offers discounts to veterans, seniors...) The way senses, (sounds, visuals, audio with excellent narrations) are incorporated in the settling of the West from beginning to more modern times is exceptional!!! Makes me grateful for all of those who've gone before us, such courage & fortitude! Negatives: Absolutely, none!!!

Wonderful Experience - Using the headset during the tour was awesome. Seeing the traffic as it passed under the Arch was amazing. Would recommend it

Self-Guided Tour - 3 Historic Trails - Great stop along I-80. We enjoyed the self-guided tour including scenic dioramas of the different people and trails that passed through Nebraska. The displays were all well done. Make the time to stop if you are traveling on I-80.

A Must-See Journey Through History - I’ve wanted to visit the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument ever since seeing it in *About Schmidt*. Passing under it once while traveling with my dog, I knew I had to come back—and it didn’t disappoint! This is no tourist trap—it’s a thoughtfully designed museum that tells the story of westward expansion, from pioneers on the Oregon Trail to travelers on the Lincoln Highway and today’s Interstate 80. The exhibits truly capture the hardships of early journeys and how much easier travel is now. I was surprised by how large the museum is—three stories tall! From the interstate, you can’t fully appreciate its size. The audio tour was fun and engaging, and even my teen son enjoyed exploring the exhibits. This is a unique and fascinating stop that I highly recommend. Don’t just drive under it—stop and experience it! You won’t regret it.

Unique Museum on I-80 - While on a senior citizen's bus trip, we made a stop at the Greate Platte River Road Archway which is located over Interstate 80. I had never heard of this museum and didn't know what to expect. The grounds are very nice and well kept. There is some outdoor seating and picnic tables available. The museum itself costs $15 ($13 for seniors). You are given a device to listen to information about the displays you are seeing. Therefore, you can look through the museum at your own pace. We were told about the migration west and the various hardships along the trail. One of these trails eventually morphed into the Lincoln Highway, then eventually into Interstate 80. While going through the museum, you can see the vehicles on I-80 traveling under the museum. There is a souvenir shop and restrooms on the lower level. The souvenir shop offers many different items for both kids and adults. This museum is a good way to spend some time and take a break from driving.

Amazing history - Goes into more detail about different areas. I really liked how it was set up. Starting from the pioneer days to current. It felt like I was in it, it's so amazing. Definitely worth going.

The lack of a compelling narrative and engaging presentation likely contribute to its inability to attract a wider audience. In a time when museums are expected to offer not just information but also a dynamic experience, the Archway falls short. While the Archway Monument stands as an impressive architectural feat, it represents a missed opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of American history, including the often-overlooked stories of Native Americans during the era of westward expansion. For those planning to visit, it’s a chance to reflect on what history is told and whose stories are left out. If the monument can embrace a more comprehensive and engaging approach, it might not only enhance its appeal but also provide a richer educational experience for future visitors.
