Fun tour! Would definitely recommend! Very interesting, informative and delicious fruit and chocolate!
The presenter was very knowledgeable but somewhat seemed stand offish.
It was really an amazing and informative tour. I think my daughter was absolutely inspired, and it made the whole family more curious about chocolate and its production. For the tasting portion, I know from experience that it is really hard to get people to verbalize what they are smelling and tasting in a group setting. I thought this was handled fairly well considering most people probably didn't think that would be part of the program. For future tastings, it might be a good idea to taste your chocolate alongside other types of chocolate just to give a little context.
Was a very informative tour. I’m a chocoholic so was pleased with learning how it’s made. Would recommend this tour!
Delicious and extremely educational. Wonderful experience.
The walking part left a bit to be desired. Hard to hear at times. Kind of long time standing.
So many flavors! Interesting tour that helped us understand the local trees and agriculture. Way better than the modest sign along the road indicates. We tasted at least ten types of chocolate, and all were excellent, plus several were amazing. We learned the history of chocolate in western society. Be sure to book in advance online or by phone and take mosquito spray.
Everyone at Garden Island Chocolate was so kind, fun and knowledgeable. We thought that the price was high and, accordingly, had high expectations. Those expectations were met or surpassed for our whole group. We learned not only about chocolate, but plants, fruits and honey. We were very impressed with Koa's knowledge of Hawaiian culture and biology. Kaitlin and Brittany were great tour leaders. They were very engaging, a lot of fun and they knew a lot about chocolate. I especially enjoyed tasting all of the chocolates. I would have liked to buy the curry and cardamon, but, unfortunately, they were not available for sale.
This was a 5-star tour of chocolate on a beautiful island! Thank you, Andrea!
Very informative. More chocolate than we could consume and all very delicious!
I was amazed at the amount of information and knowledge shared
We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thank you for your professionalism as well as your relaxed and welcoming environment. We all learned more about Chocolate and Hawaii, thank you.
Nice tour, informative. A bit too long and the chocolate bars for sale were very expensive.
Excellent historical perspective of all things chocolate. Our guide knew her subject and shared it in an informative and interesting manner. And the chocolates...the best we have ever had!
Our guides were so nice and funny and knew so much! I learned a ton more than I ever though there was to chocolate farming. Thanks for everything!
It was very educational. I learned a lot about spices, and how they grow. I am so glad that we came.
Detour was personal and small enough where many questions could be asked and answered. The owners were extremely educated in their business and very open to sharing all that they knew about chocolate and other plants that they had on their Farm.
This is the second time we have taken this tour and continue to be impressed with the variety of other fruits and nuts that are offered along with understand the growing of cacao thru the processing to make the chocolate. And then, THE AMOUNT OF CHOCOLATE WE GET TO TASTE!!! We took a "tasting" at another location on this trip and it was 5 different chocolate bars of varying quality--no comparison to Garden Isle Chocolate Farm Tour and Tasting! Keep up the GREAT job--just wish we could buy your chocolate bars on the mainland.
Lots of information on chocolate production. Wonderful selection of samples to taste. Nice patient host/owner. Relaxed tropical site.
It was great all around. I learned a great deal, the presentation was extremely well done, the owner’s love of his work was infectious, and the chocolate was delicious!
So much more interesting than we imagined, and HUGE samples of chocolate. This was both educational and delightful.
This tour and the hosts were wonderful. The 3 hour tour was perfect. The walking section was so cool learning about all the different tropical fruits. The chocolate tasting was the best chocolate buzz I’ve ever experienced! I would do this again. Great job! Thank you! Duane & Kathy, Juneau AK
Great speaker, we really enjoy it. You have nice job here on Kauai :) Martin from Czech Republic
A tour packed with fascinating information and tastings - from the fruit on arrival to the chocolate in all its forms; the pod to the ample combinations of finished chocolate and with a sample of delicious hot chocolate to boot! There was a lot of information to take in, and over a week later various bits come floating up to my consciousness to be savoured and fully digested... no pun intended. : )
Booking the tour was easy and the response so quick and friendly. The tour itself was excellent. Very informative but caual and relaxed. The owners were lovely, had a good sense of humour but were very passionate about their farm, which is fabulous.
The tour was fantastic! We loved the opportunity to learn about the cacao pods and the entire chocolate making process, especially from the excellent guides! They were extremely knowledgeable about both the cacao and the other native plants on the island, which they pointed out to us on the walking tour throughout the farm. Also, the actual chocolate tasting session was amazing!! The chocolate was delicious and our family thoroughly enjoyed learning about the subtlety of flavors in the mixtures. Definitely would recommend this experience to anyone visiting the island!
The whole thing was Great! Really like the variety of fruits and the explanation of how it is all made and produced.
Good tour overall.
Other than a gruff initial encounter with an unidentified employee/volunteer in the parking lot, the tour was amazing. Great info and generosity from both of our tour guides, just wish we had known to start our vacation with this visit so we could have let an avocado ripen! ;)
So informative and there is so much passion that goes into their product. Just amazing to learn how hands on artisan chocolate making is.
Incredible, one in a life-time experience! Definitely the best tour/activity we did on the island of Kauai. My husband and I were overwhelmed and thrilled by the "all you can eat" aspect of the tour and loved learning about the agriculture of the island. Koa's passion for what he does is contagious and we are grateful for his generosity in sharing some of the most delicious things we've ever tasted. This tour is the one thing I will highly recommend to friends and family who choose to visit Kauai.
This tour totally exceeded our expectations! We learned so much about tropical plants, fruits, and chocolate. We loved the tastings. Koa is an amazingly knowledgeable guide. We have increased knowledge of and appreciation for chocolate!
We've been on a few different chocolate tours and this one was very informative and well paced. During the tasting, Andrea gave information about chocolate, in general, and about the each piece we tasted; she seemed passionate about her work (she makes all the chocolates!). There was a good number of tastings; nothing was overly sweet; each piece was well balanced and the portions were just right. Andrea also made a tasty chocolate drink with healthy ingredients. Kao gave a good tour of the fruit farm; he provided some interesting facts about the fruits. It was really fun to try all sorts of fruits that we do not find on the mainland. Abiu...yum! We would totally recommend this tour!
We loved the whole experience. It was fun to learn about the cocoa trees and other produce on the farm. The tasting was fantastic!
The tour was fun, informational, and very tasty!!!!
