Important Note When Selecting Lessons for Kids
For children aged 6-9, Doug advises private lessons to ensure they catch more waves than in a group setting. Refunds are not available for students who cannot complete the lesson due to their skill level. Semi-private and private lessons allow your child to progress at their own pace. Group lessons lack the personalized attention that younger students require and deserve. It is highly recommended to choose a semi-private or private lesson for younger students.

Poipu Beach Surf School is dedicated to offering each guest a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming surfing experience. The school prides itself on delivering exceptional service, and its instructors find joy in introducing guests to the ancient Hawaiian art of wave riding. This is a fantastic activity suitable for all ages.
Poipu Beach Surf School conducts surfing lessons at Sheraton Beach in Poipu, ensuring safety with a maximum of four students per instructor. Instructors remain with the surfers throughout the entire lesson, never leaving them unattended in the ocean.
Lessons begin with a 10-15 minute land session at Poipu Surf (2829 Ala Kalanikaumaka St h151 Poipu, HI 96756), where surfers learn about the surfboard, paddling techniques, standing up, and receive ocean safety tips. The remainder of the lesson is spent in the water, catching waves.
