• Menehune Fish Pond - The adventure starts with a scenic drive through the picturesque backcountry of Lihue town to the Menehune Fishpond. This is not just any pond; it is a massive, ancient pond constructed by Hawaii’s earliest settlers from the Marquesas Islands. Enjoy the stunning views as the tour passes through the Kipu Kai area. Discover the intriguing legend of the Menehunes and the archaeological and cultural significance of the pond. This area has been a popular filming location for many Hollywood movies. There will be two stops for ample photo opportunities.
• Kukui Grove - The next stop is a delightful visit to a local bakery. A short 30-minute break will allow you to savor freshly made pastries, coffee, or tea. Depending on the day, the bakery will be either Kauai Bakery or Orly Patisserie.
• Wailua Falls - The tour continues to the iconic Wailua Falls, famously featured in the opening scene of the classic Fantasy Island TV show. There will be plenty of time for photos and to explore the local street vendors. This tour does not involve any hiking.
• Lydgate State Park - Enjoy a leisurely walk along the path at the beautiful Lydgate Beach Park, where you can dip your feet in the renowned Morgan Ponds (optional). Learn about the ancient temple where Hawaiians greeted the rising sun, the city of refuge, and more. This relaxing walk is suitable for all ages, with numerous photo opportunities. You can choose to have free time or stay with the guide for a deeper cultural experience.
• Opaekaa Falls - This stop includes a walk to two sites: Opaekaa Falls and the Wailua River lookout in Wailua town, once home to Hawaiian royalty. Expect breathtaking views and plenty of photo opportunities.
• Kapaa - Enjoy lunch in the historic town of Kapaa. An orientation will be provided, highlighting the many local food options available at food trucks, restaurants, smoothie bars, and shave ice stands, as well as local shops for souvenirs. There is also the chance to enjoy free chocolate tasting at Kauai’s premier chocolatier, Lydgate Farms, and free nut tasting at Kauai Gourmet Nuts. You will have 1.5 hours of free time to enjoy as you wish.

The 5.5-hour Private Kauai Eastside Waterfalls and Local Grinds tour offers a delightful blend of stunning natural landscapes, historical insights, and local culinary experiences. While not exclusively a food tour, it provides a wonderful opportunity to explore scenic spots on Kauai’s east side while sampling a variety of foods. No hiking is required.
