Hanalei Bay - Begin your adventure by slipping into the Hanalei River from a private dock. The journey downstream includes sharing the rich history of the Hanalei River and getting comfortable in the kayaks before venturing into Hanalei Bay, where most of the time will be spent. Here, you can observe the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) before heading to the beach to land the kayaks and enjoy a 45-minute snorkeling session. Guides will discuss modern reef ecology and highlight key points of interest while snorkeling. Afterward, a full deli-style lunch will be provided, allowing time to relax, socialize, and ask any questions about the island. The guides, who are native to the area, are passionate about sharing their local knowledge.
This tour requires an 8am check-in and operates from 8:30am to 1pm. Snorkel gear fitting is included (participants may bring their own complete set of gear, or a full set will be provided; mixing and matching gear is not allowed). Full-face masks are not permitted on the tour.

The Hawaiian family is delighted to share the rich history and culture of Hanalei with visitors. The ocean-river combination tour begins at a private dock and leads to a secluded beach. Participants can learn to snorkel in the crystal-clear Pacific waters, surrounded by diverse marine life. Alternatively, guests can enjoy lunch or snacks, engage in storytelling, and unwind on the beach. This tour is perfect for families and is suitable for individuals aged 5 and above.
- Must be at least 5 years of age to participate
- Free & ample public parking available
- 1:1 adult to child ratio required for children under 12
- Participants are welcome to use their personal snorkel gear with the exception of full face snorkel masks. Full Face Snorkel Masks are not permitted on tour. All participants are required to use a traditional 2 piece snorkel and mask set.
- 225lbs weight limit per person (exception of up to 250lbs if 6’ or taller)
- Pregnant travelers 28 weeks or less are welcome to participate
- All participants must be in good physical health, can paddle on their own, & get in/out of kayak on their own without assistance

Great day on the water - We had an awesome time on the beach kayak excursion. Check in was smooth, the gear provided makes it so easy to store your items, the guides were super friendly, knowledgeable and just overall set a great tone for the day.
The day consisted of us kayaking down the river into the bay and then setting up on the shoreline for a snorkel. We saw turtles, tons of fish and got plenty of time in the water. Would 100% recommend for an activity for family, friends or even a solo trip.

Kayaking Hanalei Hawaiian style - This was a relaxed kayak and snorkelling trip. Gabe and Holo were leaders and guides. A Gabe put everyone at ease and Hilo gave one of the best 10 minute history of Hawaii I have ever heard. The snorkelling part of the trip was fun and exciting. A little much for newcomers. The presentation of fish guides of what we might see was great!! Many thanks to Holo helping us and another kayak that went Hulu on the way back. It was an awesome experience!

Great Kayak and Snorkeling Trip! - This was a great experience! Kolo and La’a were great guides! They had us laughing, feeling safe, and feeling welcome. You should know how to kayak before doing this as you’ll be in open water, but aside from that you get to see beautiful mountains and views on your way to the beach. The snorkeling is amazing, beautiful fish and even some sea turtles!
Good, hearty sandwiches and a ukulele to sooth you as you look out at the ocean during lunch. Then you make your way back and kayak into lush greenery and a calming river after the ocean.
Would definitely recommend this one!

Amazing Excursion - We absolutely loved the Kayak trip and snorkeling on the beach. The guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The beach was secluded and perfect for snorkeling. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Kauai!

Excellent family kayak/snorkel tour!!! - We absolutely loved this tour! Perfect morning/early afternoon trip for our family (included kids ages 13, 10, and 7). Check-in process was seamless and informative. We had excellent guides who were excited about the tour, knowledgeable about the area, snorkeling, kayaking, and Kauai in general, and were easy to communicate with. The snorkeling was awesome and the reef had tons of beautiful fish and sea turtles! We truly just had a wonderful time! Lunch was delicious and perfect setup on the beach in the shade and they brought everything we’d need. Absolutely recommend booking this tour!!

Ohana trip - My family and I went on this wonderful tour. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff and guides. Before heading out, they taught us how to kayak and fit us with the perfect size snorkel gear. Along the way our guides, Kolo and Gabe, talked about the wildlife, the land and water and how important it is to preserve it. They were fun and knowledgeable and took the time to chat with everyone as we kayaked down the river. The area is beautiful! They took us to a great area for snorkeling, which was amazing. They setup lunch in a nice shaded area looking out at the ocean. The food was delicious. Palo played the ukulele, sang and shared Hawaiian stories. It was a wonderful morning and I highly recommend this adventure!

Worth The Time - Had a great time! Kayaking down a river that lead into the ocean was a very memorable experience. Before snorkeling the tour guides taught us about some of the native fish we might see, which enhanced the experience as it was a lot of fun to then get into the water to snorkel and recognize some species we were just told to keep an eye out for. The tour guides were so friendly and knowledgeable throughout the excursion

Wonderful snorkeling experience! - We snorkeled 3 times during our trip to Hawaii and this was by far my favorite! The water was clear and you are swimming close to the reef so you are able to see the reef and fish a lot more clearly than other locations. Our guides were welcoming and very informative, making the whole trip a lot of fun.
