Welcome / Airport or Meeting Point Pick-Up: Dambulla Cave Temple / Village Tour
Katunayake - Upon arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport or a designated meeting point, you will be warmly greeted by our dedicated National Tourist Guide Lecturer or Chauffeur Tourist Guide Lecturer, who will be your local companion throughout your wonderful vacation in Sri Lanka.
After the warm welcome, your knowledgeable guide will provide a tour briefing, and you will be transferred to a nearby restaurant, just a 20-minute drive away, to enjoy some refreshments after your long flight. Here, you can savor a complimentary Sri Lankan breakfast, complete with a hot cup of Ceylon black tea or coffee. (This does not apply to those meeting at the meeting point).
Following this, you will proceed to Dambulla.
Dambulla Cave Temple - This Buddhist temple is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its remarkable series of rock-cut shrines filled with stunning murals, a collection of gold-painted Buddha statues, and unique architectural patterns. It is known as the largest and best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The temple features an enchanting array of paintings covering an area of 2,100 m², which are particularly significant after the golden statues that can delight any curious explorer. A short, slightly steep climb leads to spacious rock shelters adorned with mesmerizing frescoes on the rock ceiling, showcasing the incredible talent of ancient Sinhalese artists. Visiting in the morning allows for a leisurely exploration, fully immersing in its spectacular historic ambiance.
Hiriwadunna Village & Jeep Safari No 4 - In this village, you will engage in a delightful and memorable village tour experience while exploring the inspiring countryside. It offers a great opportunity to connect with Sri Lanka’s rural local culture and gain insight into the lifestyles of these authentic communities. The experience begins with a peaceful bullock cart ride on a gravel road in the village, one of the most famous transportation systems in early Sri Lanka. Afterwards, enjoy a catamaran ride on a local tank before reaching the farmer’s mud house, where you will experience typical Sri Lankan hospitality with an authentic cooking demonstration, followed by a traditional Sri Lankan lunch, possibly prepared by yourself. The entire experience lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
Enjoy Sunrise Experience / Explore Sigiriya / Explore Polonnaruwa
Pidurangala Rock - If interested, you can choose one of these two experiences. Enjoy an early morning climb to Pidurangala Rock to witness the sunrise (5:30 - 7:00 am). The climb can be challenging, but the breathtaking views from the top make it worthwhile. It offers an incredible 360-degree viewpoint located opposite the world-famous Lion’s Rock. (Optional) Alternatively, enjoy sunrise canoeing at Sigiriya Lake. (Optional)
Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - After breakfast, we will head to Sigiriya. It is more than just a fortress; it is a symbiotic art gallery, blending mesmerizing nature with incredible human interventions, including granite works, architecture, enchanting frescoes, and graffiti. Even if it was a kingdom, Sigiriya was an ancient metropolitan city in terms of the maritime trade network developed by King Kashyapa in 477 – 495 AD. We will climb to the top to admire its breathtaking views and magical man-made constructions. You will marvel at the exquisite craftsmanship and enjoy a panoramic view of the boundless forest. The ascent involves approximately 1,200 steps, and reaching the summit rewards you with stunning views and a sense of accomplishment. The visit lasts at least 3 hours, including the ascent and descent.
Polonnaruwa - After visiting Sigiriya, we will visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, which is 1.5 hours away. We will enjoy lunch on the way and aim to start the visit around 1:00 pm. Polonnaruwa is the medieval capital of Sri Lanka, showcasing the aesthetic senses and development of fine arts of the ancient Sinhalese people during the medieval era.
Spicy Garden / The Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic / Peradeniya Botanical Gardens / Cultural Dance
Kandy - Proceed to the splendid city of Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhalese royal dynasty. It is set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforests. Kandy is mainly famous for its collection of sacred Buddhist sites. On the way to Kandy, enjoy a stopover and taste the real Sri Lankan aroma of Ceylon spices at Matale Spice Gardens.
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - After lunch in the afternoon, we will visit the world-famous and most revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Originally the royal palace complex, it was later transformed into one of the most venerated and valuable Buddhist temples in the world, housing one of the two surviving sacred tooth relics of Gautama Buddha, an auspicious object of veneration in the Buddhist world.
Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show - At twilight, enjoy a cultural dance show, a compelling blend of Sri Lankan arts, dance, and cultural heritage that is a must-see. Presented by the most talented and committed traditional dancers and drummers of Sri Lanka, who are dedicated to preserving Sri Lanka’s authentic dances and arts for future generations. They perform various types of dances that are inherent to different states of the island, providing a lasting experience with its authentic Sri Lankan beats.
Kandy City Tour / Hill Country Tea Plantations / Little England
Nuwara Eliya - In the morning, embark on a wonderful journey towards Sri Lanka’s tea region of Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as “Little England” due to its buildings from the British colonial period. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, visit a gem museum to learn more about the world-renowned and prestigious Sri Lankan gems and jewelry, crafted using traditional techniques. (Optional) Afterwards, visit a wood carving center to buy souvenirs for loved ones and then the Batik working factory. (Optional) Continue the journey to Nuwara Eliya, stopping at a tea factory to observe the rich tradition of making Ceylon tea, kept alive to this day, while driving through the cold and misty hills that host lush green tea plantations.
Horton Plains National Park - Due to the large number of endemic flora and fauna species, Horton Plains was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its surroundings, forests, and adjoining peak wilderness constitute Sri Lanka’s most important catchment area for almost all major rivers. Located at an elevation of 2,100–2,300 m, it encompasses montane grassland and cloud forest.
Train Journey into the Mountains
Ella - After breakfast, depart from the hotel to enjoy the most spectacular train journey from Nanu-Oya to the resort town of Ella, known as one of the most picturesque hill country train journeys in the world. Upon arrival in Ella, enjoy a walk in the village, a favorite hill country location due to its wonderful nature-friendly setting. The Nine Arch Bridge is a major tourist attraction in Ella, a massive bridge built entirely of solid rocks, bricks, and cement without using a single piece of steel. Ella is great for walking and climbing, with its most famous trekking route leading to “Little Adam’s Peak.” Alternatively, in the evening, relax at the village center, where there are many restaurants, pubs, and evening entertainments.
Explore Rawana Waterfall & Cave / 4x4W Jeep Safari
Rawana Falls - After breakfast, depart from Ella towards Yala National Park, stopping at Ravana waterfall along the way. Here, explore the Ravana Cave, another less-visited attraction in Ella. The cave is a prominent spectacle, residing behind the cascade, Ravana Falls (Ravana Ella), considered one of the widest in Sri Lanka, especially during the rainy season.
Yala National Park - Yala National Park is a vast area of forest, grassland, and lagoons bordering the Indian Ocean on the southeast coast of Sri Lanka. It is the most visited national park in Sri Lanka from November to March, home to wildlife such as leopards, elephants, hundreds of migrant and endemic bird species, crocodiles, and deer. It features a variety of ecosystems, including moist monsoon forests, dry monsoon forests, semi-deciduous forests, thorn forests, grasslands, marshes, marine wetlands, and sandy beaches.

Weligama - After breakfast, head towards Weligama. Arrive at the world-famous beachside of Sri Lanka. Enjoy the area at your own pace.
Galle Fort / Excursion to Bentota
Galle Fort - If interested, embark on a boat ride to capture the blue whales and dolphins. Mirissa is one of the best places in the world to spot the largest creature on the planet. (Optional) Afterwards, leave Mirissa and continue the coastal drive towards Galle along the southern coast, enjoying the magnificent view of the Indian Ocean. Galle is well-known for its fort, where classic Dutch and British architecture meets a tropical setting, creating a vivid atmosphere. Walk through the streets of Galle Dutch Fort, observing how European architecture mingles with South Asian traditions, attracting cultural enthusiasts globally. The historical Galle Lighthouse stands proudly on the southeast tip of the fort.
Moonstone Mines and Gem Palace - If interested, visit the famous Moonstone Mine in Hikkaduwa on the way to Bentota. Here, learn about the process of producing shiny moonstones after mining and excavating in Sri Lanka’s largest moonstone mine.
Madu River Safari - Enjoy a remarkable canoe ride at Madu Ganga on the way to Galle. Maduganga is a must-visit for spontaneous travelers, offering an exceptional experience to explore the mangrove and biodiversity through a canoeing safari.
Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project - Continue the coastal drive towards Bentota along the southern coast, enjoying the magnificent view of the Indian Ocean. First, visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, a conservation project aimed at protecting Sri Lanka’s turtles from extinction. It plays a crucial role in safeguarding these magnificent creatures, as the turtle population was endangered in recent decades. The hatchery collects eggs at night along the sandy beach and keeps them safe. After being fed, the baby turtles are taken to the sea and released when they are old enough to return to their natural habitat.
Bentota Beach - Upon arrival at your hotel, relax on the beach with a towel, enjoying a cocktail or a chilled beer under the shade of a palm tree. Walk along the seashore and find seafront restaurants to try authentic Sri Lankan seafood, with a wonderful crab curry likely on the menu.

This means that, Where it is impossible to provide a triple room, you will have to decide which of your party takes the single room.
