Floating Through Paradise: My Celestial River Adventure

When the call of the river beckoned, I couldn’t resist the allure of the Celestial River Float. Join me as I recount a day of adventure, from thrilling rapids to natural spa treatments, all set against the stunning backdrop of Costa Rica’s lush rainforest.

A River Adventure Like No Other

The moment I heard about the Celestial River Float experience, I knew it was something I had to try. As someone who spends most of his time chasing waves and exploring the best surf spots in Central America, the idea of floating down a river surrounded by lush rainforest was a refreshing change of pace. My wife and I, always eager for a new adventure, packed our bags and headed to Katira, ready to embrace the unknown.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly team of guides, Fernando, Dariel, and David. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it was clear from the start that safety was their top priority. As we geared up and prepared to embark on our journey, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with a hint of nervousness. The river, with its vibrant blue waters and surrounding greenery, was a sight to behold. It was as if we had stepped into a hidden paradise, far removed from the bustling surf towns we were used to.

Thrills and Chills on the Rapids

As we set off down the river, the gentle current quickly gave way to the thrill of the rapids. The level 1 rapids were just enough to get the adrenaline pumping without being overwhelming. I watched as a family with three kids, the youngest just seven years old, navigated the waters with ease, thanks to the expert guidance of our team. It was heartwarming to see the little one’s initial apprehension turn into pure joy as she conquered her fears and embraced the adventure.

The highlight of the trip for me was undoubtedly the Tarzan swing. Midway through our journey, we stopped at a clearing where a rope swing hung invitingly over the river. With a whoop of excitement, I swung out over the water, letting go at the peak of the arc and plunging into the cool, minty waters below. It was a moment of pure exhilaration, a reminder of the simple joys that come with embracing the natural world.

A Touch of Nature’s Spa

As if the river float and Tarzan swing weren’t enough, our guides had one more surprise in store for us. During a break, they dug into a crevice along the riverbank and retrieved some volcanic clay. We smeared the clay onto our faces and bodies, letting it dry in the sun before rinsing it off in the river. It was a natural spa treatment like no other, leaving our skin feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

As our journey came to an end, a kind lady awaited us with fresh fruit and warm towels, a thoughtful touch that capped off an unforgettable day. As we made our way back to our hotel, I couldn’t help but reflect on the experience. The Celestial River Float had offered a unique perspective on the beauty of Costa Rica’s natural landscapes, a reminder that there’s always more to explore beyond the waves. Until next time, pura vida!
