- Children’s Eternal Rain Forest - After a one-hour journey in a four-wheel-drive vehicle along mountain trails, visitors will reach the Pocosol Station, a scientific research facility established to study the local flora and fauna. It is situated next to a volcanic-origin lagoon at an elevation of 1100 meters above sea level. During the 4-hour hike along a 7-kilometer (4.45-mile) trail, participants will marvel at the primary forest, volcanic soil with fumaroles, the Pocosol Waterfall towering over 50 meters (164 feet), and the observation deck offering views of the waterfall’s descent into a river canyon. The area boasts incredible flora and fauna, including a wide variety of animals such as wild boars, coatis, agoutis, howler monkeys, and numerous bird species.
This research center is part of the Children’s Eternal Rainforest reserve, managed by the Monteverde Conservationist Association, which oversees 22,000 hectares (54,400 acres) of protected forest.

Great day in the Rainforest - We had a great day with our guide Harven in the Children's Eternal Rainforest. We do a bit of hiking so the hike was not too strenuous for us. Even though there had been quite a bit of rain, the trails were manageable with the boots and walking sticks provided to us. Harven was very enthusiastic about showing us the environment in the forest, and we felt his love for the natural world. He also told some very funny jokes! The lunch included was delicious! One of the best we've had in Costa Rica. We recommend this "off the beaten path" excursion to see a different side of Costa Rica!

True Adventure - This felt like one of the most authentic rainforest adventures of our family vacation. We were picked up by a comfortable tour bus from our hotel, but then we switched to a 4 wheel drive pickup truck once we started heading into the rainforest. Our particular tour was a private one for our family of 4. We did hours of hiking through the largest conservation area in Costa Rica and bumped into only one other tour group. We learned a ton from our extremely knowledgeable guide Albert. We saw some cool wild life including a King Vulture and a Viper. Lunch was provided in a beautiful spot. I highly recommend this tour, but make sure everyone in your group is prepared for a moderate hike.

Great Off the Beaten Path Experience - What a great trip with Ecoterra. We were in the Fortuna area and wanted to get away from the tourists. This trip is like an hour drive away on a crazy bumpy road (I loved it!). You arrive at the Poscol station and do ~4.5 miles of walking on the trails. It was fairly short for a hiking trip, but was nice. Tons of different types of plants and wildlife. We didn't see another person the whole trip. Food back at the Poscol station was also really good. Best coffee I have ever had in my life too (Cafe de Monteverde).
