Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation Day

Kathmandu Valley - After breakfast, enjoy a full day of sightseeing at UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley, including Basantapur Durbar Square, the Monkey Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple.

Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Pokhara - After breakfast, take a scenic 25-minute flight to Pokhara. After a brief refreshment at the hotel, enjoy boating on Phewa Lake and visit Tal Barahi Temple. Conclude the day with an evening walk and a delightful dinner by the lakeside.

Flight from Pokhara to Jomsom (2720 m) and Trek to Kagbeni (2800 m) 3-4 hours

Kagbeni - Begin the day with an early morning 15-minute scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. After breakfast in Jomsom, embark on a 3-4 hour trek to Kagbeni. In the evening, explore Kagbeni village and its ancient Buddhist monastery.

Trek from Kagbeni to Tsaile (3100 m) 5-6 hours

Mustang Region - After an early breakfast in Kagbeni, start the 5-6 hour trek to Tsaile. The trail passes through Tangbe village (3060 m), Tetang village (3040 m), and Chhuksang village (2980 m), where lunch will be enjoyed.

Trek from Tsaile to Ghiling (3570 m) 6-7 hours via Chuksi Cave

Mustang Region - Following breakfast, continue the trek through steep, treeless, and dry terrain. Climb above Samar village, descend into a gorge, and enter another valley surrounded by juniper trees. Cross cool streams and ascend to a ridge at 3800 m. Climb to Taklam La Pass (3,624 m) with views of Damodar Danda, Yakawa Kang, and Tilicho Peak. The trail then descends steeply to the whitewashed buildings of Ghiling village.

Trek from Ghiling to Dhakmar (3450 m) 5-6 hours

Mustang Region - After an early breakfast, begin the trek to Dhakmar. Enjoy views of the Himalayan range and explore many ancient Buddhist monasteries along the way.

Trek from Dhakmar to Lo-Manthang (3840 m) 6-7 hours via Ghar Gompa & Marang-La Pass

Lomanthang - After breakfast, start the trek to the final destination, Lo-Manthang. The trail passes through beautiful villages and ascends gently to the 3,850-meter windy pass of Lo, offering stunning views of the walled city of Lo-Manthang.

Observe the First Day of the Tiji Festival

Lomanthang - After breakfast, explore Lo-Manthang village. After lunch, enjoy ritual dance performances by monks on the first day of the Tiji Festival.

Explore Lo-Manthang Village and Observe the Second Day of the Tiji Festival

Lomanthang - After breakfast, visit Namgyal Gompa, Choedhe Gompa, and Tingkhar. After lunch, enjoy the second day of the Tiji Festival. In the evening, visit local people to learn about their unique culture and traditions.

Morning Visit to Ancient Chhosar Cave and Observe the Last Day of the Tiji Festival

Lomanthang - After an early breakfast, trek to the ancient Chhosar Cave (44 living rooms) and visit various old Buddhist monasteries. After a short visit to Chhosar Cave, trek back to Lo-Manthang and enjoy the third and final day of the Tiji Festival.

Trek from Lo-Manthang to Dhakmar (3810 m) 6-7 hours

Mustang Region - After an early breakfast, trek back to Dhakmar via a different route. Pass through Gyakar village, home to the 1200-year-old Ghar Gompa, famous for its rock paintings. It is believed that wishes made at Ghar Gompa are fulfilled.

Trek from Dhakmar to Ghiling (3806 m) 5-6 hours

Mustang Region - Trek back to Ghiling. Due to dusty winds during the day, it is recommended to explore villages and hike in the morning and evening.

Trek from Ghiling to Chhuksang (3050 m) 4-5 hours

Mustang Region - Trek to Chhuksang village, enjoying breathtaking landscapes and majestic Himalayan views. Visit the salt mine at Chhuksang.

Trek from Chhuksang to Muktinath (3,710 m) 6-7 hours

Muktinath Temple - Begin the trek to Muktinath, a holy temple for Hindus, attracting numerous Nepali and Indian pilgrims daily. From Muktinath, enjoy stunning views of the Himalaya Parbat.

Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2720 m) 4-5 hours

Jomsom - Walk along the bank of the Kaligandaki River. The flat trail makes hiking easy, offering beautiful landscapes and incredible views of Mount Dhaulagiri and Mount Nilgiri. After a 5 to 6-hour walk, reach Jomsom airport.

Early Morning Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara (20 minutes) and then to Kathmandu

Kathmandu - Enjoy an early morning scenic flight to Pokhara, followed by a daytime flight to Kathmandu. In the evening, savor a farewell dinner with a Nepali cultural dance program.

The Upper Mustang Tiji Festival Trek offers an incredible journey into the last forbidden kingdom of Mustang, promising an unforgettable hiking experience. The Tiji Festival is a three-day annual event held in Lo Manthang, in front of the Choedhe Monastery, where monks perform traditional ritual dances. This festival, occurring at the end of May each year, centers around the deity Dorje Jono and his battle against his demon father to protect the Kingdom of Upper Mustang from ruin.

Throughout the trek, participants will be captivated by breathtaking landscapes, stunning mountain vistas, and the unique cultural and traditional lifestyle of the Thakali people, providing an unforgettable experience.
