You will be transported to a hotel, where a briefing will be provided on the necessary procedures, climbing route, and your climbing permit. Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to visit nearby temples or relax during your free time.
Kathmandu Sightseeing (1400m, 4593ft)
Kathmandu Valley - After breakfast on another day in Kathmandu, a tour guide will pick you up for sightseeing. You will have the chance to explore famous monuments, culture, and art. The tour guide will take you to Pashupatinath Temple, Shyambhu Nath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Kathmandu to Pokhara (822m, 2696ft)
Pokhara - After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel for a private Jeep trip to Pokhara. Along the way, you will enjoy views of Nepal’s countryside, filled with greenery, rivers, villages, farms, and breathtaking mountain scenery. The journey to Pokhara will take approximately 7 hours, depending on road conditions. Upon arrival, you will check into the hotel, have lunch, and then either relax or go boating on Phew Lake and take a nighttime walking tour of Pokhara lakeside. Explore, unwind, and dine near the beautiful Lake Fewa.
Pokhara to Beni and Beni to Tatopani (2600m) Around 6 hrs drive
Tatopani - After breakfast in Pokhara, you will begin your journey to Mustang by private jeep. The route follows the Kali Gandaki River after initially taking the blacktop road to Beni in the west. Beyond Beni, the road becomes off-road. The Kali Gandaki valley, nestled between the Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Annapurna I Himalayas, is the world’s deepest gorge (8,091 m). Tatopani is a quaint village where you can enjoy local activities and natural hot springs.
Tatopani to Kagbeni and Kagbeni to Muktinath (2900m, 3800m) Around 5-6 hrs drive
Muktinath - After breakfast, you will drive through the nearby villages of Kalopani and Ghasa, stopping to observe apple cultivation and the local market in Jomsom. You will then pass through Kagbeni village to reach the renowned Muktinath temple, featuring 108 taps dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The itinerary also includes a visit to the Buddhist monastery in Jharkot, offering stunning views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche Peak, as well as the nearby town of Muktinath and Jal Devi. You will spend the night in Kagbeni, where you can witness the natural gas-fueled fire at Jal Devi.
Ghami Village (3520m, 11548ft) Via Syngboche Pass (4200m, 13779ft) About 6hrs drive
Ghami - After breakfast, you will tour Kagbeni Monastery. Kagbeni is renowned for its Pitri-Puja, also known as Pitri-Moksastala, a ritual performed to save ancestors’ souls from hell and guide them to heaven, bringing blessings to the family. Entry into the Upper Mustang area requires a special permit, which has been arranged by our office team.
The journey begins with a Jeep ride across the Kaligandaki River near Chhusang Village, ascending to Chella Village, Samar Village, Syangboche Village, Bhina Village, Ghiling Village, and finally Ghami Village. The daytime scenery from Syngboche and other locations will be breathtaking. Feel free to stop the Jeep to take photos and enjoy the journey of discovery. You will also experience Tibetan culture, local activities, and farmer cottages with yaks and house caravans in the area.
Drive to Lo-Mangthang (3840m, 12598 ft) About 3hrs drive
Lo Manthang - Today, you will visit several significant monasteries, including Mustang’s Lo Gager Ghar Gompa, Charang Monastery, Lo-mang Thang City, “Jampa Gompa,” the oldest monastery known as “God House,” a large red assembly hall and Gompa built in the late 15th century, and “Chodey Gompa,” the city’s current center and home to a monastic museum. You will also see domestic yak and cow caravans, as well as the scenery from and around Wonder Mountain.
Exploration day in Lo-Manthang and Chhosar
Lo Manthang - After breakfast, you will visit Namgyal Gompa, the Chhoser sky caves, and the nearly 3,000-year-old Shija Jhong cave in Mustang, explored by archaeologists worldwide. Other nearby caves have been used for living, meditation, and even burial. After exploring the neighborhood, you will return to the guesthouse by jeep.
Drive Back to Jomsom (2743m, 8999ft)
Jomsom - Today, you will drive back to Jomsom, passing through several nearby villages, the Kaligandaki River, Buddhist stupas, and monasteries. In the evening, you can explore the local market in Jomsom.
Drive back to Pokhara from Jomsom (7hrs-8hrs drive)
Pokhara - You will drive from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Rest day in Pokhara
Pokhara Lakeside - A city tour in Pokhara will be arranged to explore its beautiful attractions. Alternatively, you can choose to relax and rest for the day.
