The Sikles trek takes adventurers off the beaten path, where they can expect a warm welcome from the villages they encounter. This roughly circular route winds through the villages of the Buddhist Gurung people, who are of Tibetan descent. Trekkers will traverse rice paddies and cornfields before ascending a ridge covered in lush forest, with Machapuchare occasionally overshadowing the Annapurnas.

Despite its proximity to the main trekking area in the Annapurna region, the Sikles Trek is a much less developed path, featuring very few lodges or guesthouses. The journey’s highlight is the stunning and meticulously maintained village of Siklis, situated on a hillock at an elevation of 1,980 meters. Siklis is renowned for its charming rustic atmosphere and authentic Gurung village experience. The village comprises five traditional neighborhoods (Lama-thar, Sabha-thar, Harpu-thar, Dhaprang-thar, and Gairi-thar), each holding unique significance within the community. In this Buddhist community, the Jhankri (shaman) and Lama (priest) play vital roles in marriage, death, and daily life.

Siklis village is perched above the Mardi Khola (1,981 m), offering views of Annapurna IV to the north and Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal to the east.
