- Dakshinkali Temple - Continue the tour with a visit to Dakshinkali Temple.
The Dakshinkali Temple, a revered Hindu pilgrimage site, is nestled at the meeting point of two sacred streams in a rocky forested area. This temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali, known as the fiercest incarnation of Parvati. To appease the goddess’s desire for blood, pilgrims bring various animals to the temple, where they are sacrificed and prepared by the temple priests, who are also skilled butchers.
- Chilancho Bahal - At 3:00 pm, return to Kirtipur.
Kirtipur, situated on a hill southwest of central Kathmandu, is one of the ancient kingdoms in the Kathmandu Valley that were once independent but now form part of greater Kathmandu. It is believed to be one of the oldest settlements in the valley. Kirtipur is an excellent place to learn about the Newar people, one of Nepal’s many distinct ethnic groups and the original inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley. Visitors come to Kirtipur for its stunning architecture, hilltop temples, and panoramic city views.
Strolling through its winding streets feels like walking through a traditional Nepali village, yet Kirtipur also offers some of the best views of expansive Kathmandu and the surrounding hills and mountains. It is filled with cobblestone streets, old brick houses with intricately carved doors and window frames, and multi-tiered pagodas.
During this tour, visitors will see the Bagh Bhairab temple, Chilancho Stupa shrine, Uma Maheshwar temple, and a Theravada Buddhist monastery. Enjoy a Newari lunch before returning to the hotel.
The day tour concludes as the guide drops guests off at their hotel.
