Discover the Marvels of Kathmandu
Pashupatinath Temple - Situated on the banks of the Bagmati River, this temple is a must-visit among the many religious sites. Regarded as the most sacred pilgrimage destination in Nepal, it draws thousands of visitors annually. Just 5 kilometers from Kathmandu, it is believed to be one of Lord Shiva’s abodes, with numerous shrines dedicated to him. Don’t miss the wooded ravine, celebrated for its spiritual significance.
Swayambhunath - This religious site has remained unchanged for over 700 years and is one of the most significant Buddhist locations in Nepal, if not globally. Known as the “Monkey Temple,” sacred monkeys inhabit various parts of the temple. For the best experience, walk around the stupa clockwise, setting the wheels on the balustrade in motion as you go.
Patan (Lalitpur) - Across the Bagmati River from Kathmandu lies Patan, also known as Lalitpur, the valley’s second-largest town. Renowned for its arts and architecture, you’ll be amazed by the intricate buildings, metal statues, and wood and stone carvings throughout Patan. The temples and monasteries are of exceptional quality, and the vibrant Thangkas, colorful paintings, are a must-see.
Kathmandu Durbar Square - Recognized as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage site, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a collection of ancient temples, palaces, courtyards, and streets dating back to the 12th and 18th centuries. Known for its impressive architecture, heritage, and nobility, the square is a central social and religious hub of Kathmandu.
Relax in Unique Pokhara
Pokhara - Known as the most tranquil city in Nepal, Pokhara’s charm is evident after a short morning trip from Kathmandu. A 6-hour drive offers stunning views along the way. After checking into a partnered hotel in Pokhara, explore the city’s offerings. Whether renting a paddle boat, visiting floating markets, or dining at lakeside restaurants, you’ll quickly adapt to Pokhara’s peaceful pace.
Phewa Tal (Fewa Lake) - Phewa Lake, also known as Phewa Tal or Fewa Lake, is a freshwater lake in southern Pokhara Valley. At an altitude of 742 m (2,434 ft), it is Nepal’s second-largest lake. Classified as a semi-natural freshwater lake, it is stream-fed but regulated by a dam. The reflections of Mount Machhapuchhre and other peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges on its clear waters are mesmerizing. The Barahi Temple, located on an island in the lake, is also a popular tourist attraction.
Enjoy a Sarangkot Sunrise
Sarangkot - Considered by many as the best viewpoint in Nepal, Sarangkot offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Annapurna range. From here, you can see snow-capped peaks, the crystal-blue waters of Phewa Lake, pristine rural hamlets, and the most magnificent sunrise or sunset imaginable. Sarangkot is a must-see, located less than 10 kilometers from Pokhara.
Devi’s Fall - Just a few kilometers from central Pokhara, you can visit one of the region’s most popular attractions. Known locally as Patala Chhango, Devi’s Falls is a stunning waterfall that flows into a deep, narrow canal. Named after a tourist who tragically fell and was never found, the beauty of Devi’s Falls is undeniable.
Mahendra Cave - Known as the “House of Bats,” Mahendra Cave is home to nocturnal creatures hanging from the ceiling and features remarkable rock formations, including exotic stalactites and stalagmites. With interesting sights at every turn and well-developed lighting, it offers excellent accessibility and guided paths for a great caving experience.
Return to Basics in Chitwan
Chitwan National Park - Start the day with a leisurely breakfast before heading to the Chitwan district, where time seems to stand still. After checking into a pristine hotel, visit Tharu village to witness traditional hut-building techniques and rice paddy planting by hand. The afternoon includes a guided safari in Chitwan National Park to see rhinos, leopards, crocodiles, and more, followed by a traditional dance performance in the evening. The deep-rooted culture of Tharu and Chitwan is a tour highlight and a reason to return to Nepal.
Experience Awe-Inspiring Nature
Chitwan National Park - While Day 4 in Chitwan focused on observation, Day 5 is about participation. After breakfast, embark on a canoe ride to view the region from a new perspective. Visit the Sauhara Elephant Breeding Centre for an up-close encounter with both majestic adult and playful baby elephants. The trail continues through Chitwan National Park, where monkey sightings are common, along with peacocks and other exotic birds.
Approaching the End in Nagarkot
Nagarkot - On the final full day of the Naturally Nepal tour, start by watching elephants enjoy a playful bath, followed by a short nap after a delicious breakfast. An elephant ride through the jungle offers an insider’s view of Chitwan’s remarkable nature. Day 7 concludes with a journey to Nagarkot for a relaxing and peaceful end to the trip. With Mount Everest in view, it’s easy to see why Nagarkot is considered one of the country’s most scenic spots.
