Arrival in Kathmandu and Hotel Transfer

Kathmandu - Flying into Kathmandu on a clear day is a breathtaking experience. Exploring Kathmandu Valley (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Patan Durbar Square)

Kathmandu - Today is dedicated to exploring some of Kathmandu’s heritage sites, starting right after breakfast. The first stop is Pashupatinath Temple, a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, significant not only to Nepalis but to Hindus worldwide. Next, enjoy a guided tour of Boudhanath, Nepal’s largest Buddhist stupa and a renowned pilgrimage site with numerous Tibetan monasteries. Finally, visit Patan, also known as Lalitpur (the City of Artisans), located 5km from Kathmandu. Stroll through Patan Durbar Square and admire the architectural marvels from the Malla era, including Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple, and Golden Temple. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Journey to Arughat Bazaar and Soti Khola (Approx. 775m/ 7-8 hrs.)

Soti Khola - After breakfast, the journey to Arughat Bazaar begins. Leaving Kathmandu behind, travel along Prithivi Highway, enjoying scenic river views and small highway settlements. After a 5-6 hour drive, arrive at Arughat Bazaar, then continue to Soti Khola by jeep. A further 1:30-2 hour drive through terraces and charming hamlets along Budhi Gandaki leads to Soti Khola, where accommodations are arranged for the night. Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Machhakhola (Approx. 900m/ 5-6 hrs)

Machhakhola - The trek begins today, passing through dense forests and small hillside villages until reaching a valley widening opposite a large tributary stream entering the Budhi Gandaki River. The terraced fields belong to Lapubesi (880m). Descend through the sandy riverbed, following a trail below the steep valley side, then climb to a ridge at Almara. A short walk leads to Machha Khola, meaning “Fish River.” Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Jagat (Approx. 1300m/ 5-6 hrs)

Jagat - The trail features minor ups and downs, crossing the Tharo Khola to reach Khorlabesi. After more ascents and descents, encounter a small hot spring in Tatopani. The steep valley sides become impassable, prompting a switch to the left bank via a suspension bridge. The trail is exposed and challenging in places. After a forest path, reach Dobhan. Above Doban, the Budhi Gandaki descends a series of rapids. Beyond this, the river meanders across a broad gravel bed. At Lauri, cross the river on a suspension bridge, then climb to Jagat’s fields. Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Deng (Approx. 1860m/ 5-6 hrs)

Nepal - Today’s trek begins with a climb over a rocky ridge to Salleri, offering views of Shrigi Himal (7187m), then descends to Sirdibas. The valley widens as the trail continues to Ghatta Khola. Walk upstream to a suspension bridge in Philim, a large Gurung village. The trail turns north above the village, crossing millet fields to Ekle Bhatti. Enter a steep, uninhabited gorge, descend to grassy slopes, cross the Budhi Gandaki, and trek along the west bank before crossing to the east bank. The valley widens, passing through bamboo forests to Deng Khola. Cross the Khola to reach Deng village. Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Namrung (Approx. 2560m/ 5-6 hrs)

Namrung - After a short walk beyond Deng, cross the Budhi Gandaki and climb to Rana at 1910m. From a bridge, climb to join a trail from Bhi, then head west up the Budhi Gandaki valley. The trail passes through forests and mani stones, indicating entry into a high country Buddhist region. After about 4 hours, reach Ghap, straddling the river. Cross the Budi Gandaki several times, encountering gompas en route. As altitude increases, notice changes in climate and culture. The trail follows the river through a dense forest, becoming less dense after crossing a narrow gorge. A pleasant walk leads to Namrung, where permits are checked. Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Lho (Approx. 3180m/ 6-7 hrs)

Nepal - Cross Budhi Gandaki and trek through the forest, passing a stone arch to reach Lhi, known for its chortens and barley terraces. Above Lhi, the Simnag valley opens with extensive pastures. Climb gently, crossing a stream from Lidanda Glaciers, to reach Sho, a Tibetan village at 3000m. Enjoy views of Manaslu North and Manaslu main. Continue to Lho, a large village at 3150 meters with a monastery and numerous chortens and manis. Ganesh I is visible from here. Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Samdo (Approx. 3875m/ 4-5 hrs)

Nepal - The Budhi Gandaki narrows to a stream as the trek continues upwards, surrounded by stunning mountains. Manaslu is particularly striking. Views include Samdo (Pang phuchuli), Nagdi chuli, Simnang Himal, Manaslu glacier, and other peaks. The trail passes through pasturelands, juniper trees, and mani walls. After crossing to the east bank, reach Samdo, the last permanent settlement in the valley, home to a yak-herding community. Overnight at a teahouse.

Acclimatization/Excursion around Tibetan Border via Samdo Village

Mount Manaslu - Choose between hiking to the back of Samdo village through a trade pass to Tibet or taking a longer hike to Gya-La pass north of the village, a more frequented trade route. Both options offer breathtaking views of Mt. Manaslu and other Himalayan ranges, including Simrang, Hiunchuli, Ngadi, Larkye Peak, and Cheo. Pass through seasonal herders’ settlements. Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Bhimtang via Larkya-La Pass (Approx. 5160m/ 8-9 hrs)

Trek to Tilche (Approx. 1963m / 4-5hrs)

Gorkha - Today’s 5-hour trek follows the trail downstream of the Marshyangdi River, passing scattered villages. Walk through Sangure Kharka pastures, enjoying views of Mt. Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal, and Cheo Himal. Cross a bridge over Dudh Khola, descend into rhododendron forests, and pass through a narrow valley to reach Karche’s high cultivated land (2785 meters). Continue across fields, making a steep climb over a ridge to reach Tiliche. Overnight at a teahouse.

Trek to Jagat (Approx. 1300m/ 5-6 hrs)

Jagat - Departing Tiliche, cross the Marshyangdi river to join the main Annapurna Circuit with fellow trekkers, soon reaching Dharapani. Descend gradually along the Dudh Khola and Marshyangdi River banks. The narrow gorge briefly opens to Tal, a picturesque village formed by a landslide dam. After crossing Tal, arrive at Jagat for the night. Overnight at a teahouse.

Drive to Kathmandu via Besisahar

Kathmandu - After two weeks of trekking in the Himalayas, return to Kathmandu. A seven-hour drive via Besi Sahar offers views of hill and mountain landscapes, often alongside the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. Pass beautiful villages with farming terraces. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be escorted to your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Commence the Manaslu Circuit Trek from the historic center of Gorkha following a 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu. The path ascends the Budhi Gandaki River valley, traversing a wild and unexplored region predominantly inhabited by the Gurung ethnic group. The trail encircles the fascinating Manaslu peak [8156m], crosses the Larkya-La pass at 5106m, and eventually joins the Marshyangdi river valley along the main Annapurna circuit trail. The journey then continues descending through the Marshyangdi river valley, passing through rhododendron and oak forests, and concludes at Jagat, followed by a drive to Kathmandu via Besisahar.
