Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest square in Kathmandu. It is a must-visit palace with its stunning temples, squares, art, and architecture. Most monuments were constructed in the 17th and 18th centuries by the Malla dynasty. Major temples and squares include:
- Nyatapole Square, the tallest temple (108 ft) in Nepal, built in the 17th century by King Bhupatindra Malla, took three generations to complete. The temple’s main deity is Siddhi Laxmi.
- The Golden Gate, described by English writer Percy Brown as the most beautiful and richly molded specimen of its kind globally. The 24-carat gold-polished door is surrounded by Hindu gods and goddesses. Erected by King Ranjit Malla, it serves as the entrance to the main courtyard of the palace of fifty-five windows.
