Additional Information

This expertly crafted climbing itinerary begins with an acclimatization hike to the renowned trekking destinations of Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, offering close-up views of Mt. Everest before ascending Island Peak. The mountain was named “Island Peak” in 1952 by Eric Shipton, who found it reminiscent of an island amidst a sea of ice. Locally, it is referred to as “Imja Tse” in the Sherpa language.

Local Guides and Top Notch Treatment! - I was so nervous about this trip! I booked as a solo female traveler, not knowing anyone on the trip or staff, and was determined to do Island peak. Not only was I looking for a top notch experience... but I wanted to ensure proper safety precautions of my team and know that my money was supporting a local company and local guides. I had been in Nepal for a total of 5 months volunteering with local organizations. They knew I was nervous and wanted to travel safely and ethically. It was these local companies that confidently insisted I book with Ace the Himalaya. From then on I knew I was in good hands. I want to extend a massive thank you to Pasang (our fantastic guide) who got us safely to Base Camp and the summit of Island Peak. If you have the ability, make sure to request him and Sauman too -- they absolutely made my experience. They go above and beyond to explain the significance of their culture, food, and will even give you some language lessons if you're keen. It was a huge bonus for me. Big shout out to our incredibly strong sherpa team too Bishal, Subharaj and Sukbir (wow! they make it look easy). I will definitely return.

Miracle Island Peak Climbing (I peaked because I am not good at climbing winter mountains. It's just a miracle.) - It was the first time in my life that I had gone over 6000m. 1100m above sea level from Island Peak base camp. I'm always the slowest person even climbing summer mountains. That’s why I decided to try winter mountains. After two-thirds of the way up, I felt like I had already run out of energy and climbed super slow. Fortunately, our guide is Pemba, who has been taken to Island Peak more than 500 times. The summit was blessed with clear skies and no wind conditions. I've never been so tired in my life. It was an experience I will never forget.

EBC and Island Peak - Wonderful experience. Enjoyed every day and moment. Even the super tough days that took everything you had. The Himalayas are beautiful. The culture of Nepal; and the Sherpa people especially are a generous, kind, hard working, and truly remarkable people. The world is a better place with them. We were well taken of at all times even when in extremely remote areas. There’s no 5 star resort deep in the mountains, but we were taken care of to best of ACE’s ability. If there was an issue they took the best care of us. Extra climbing guides were brought in for Island Peak and it made me feel much so much safer with the experience they brought to the table. Including Everest and K2 summits. Pasang, Subharaj, and Sukbir I want to thank personally for making the trip the wonderful unforgettable experience it was.

One of the best experiences of my life! - I had an excellent experience on this trek! My guide Sandip was amazing. He always made sure I was feeling ok and even lectured me about mountains, culture, and other things along the trip. I highly recommend doing this trek if you want to add another challenge along side EBC. If you can, ask for Sandip as a guide. He will take care of you. Thank you Ace The Himalaya for such an amazing experience. I will remember this trip forever! From the guides, the group, the scenery, the culture, it was all amazing. Ps: If you practice some type of cardio training plus the stair master a few months before your trek, it will absolutely benefit you extremely.

Professional, reliable, a good all in one package. Looking forward to the next trip - I booked a route with Ace to climb Island Peak, and the entire process and communication were outstanding. Our guides provided excellent advice, gave thoughtful recommendations, and led us incredibly well. I trusted them completely—especially my guide, Aamod, who accompanied me throughout the entire trek. Trust and an accurate assessment of one’s abilities are the most important things in the mountains, and Aamod truly excelled in both. The organization by Ace was flawless, allowing us to focus entirely on enjoying the trip without worrying about logistics. Climbing a peak at the end of November is, however, extremely cold. In hindsight, I would recommend going earlier in the season to avoid the freezing temperatures at higher altitudes. I would 100% recommend Ace to my friends, and I particularly want to highlight my guide, Aamod, who was incredibly reliable, communicative, and helpful. Overall, it was a thoroughly successful adventure!

Adventure begins at the end of your comfort zone. Prepare to be uncomfortable! - Trip of a lifetime. Excellent! Our guide Deepak and Porter Bikas were attentive, polite, informative and constantly vigilant regarding the affects of altitude. Simplifying the precautions to 5 factors for maximum enjoyment and success, eat, hydrate, keep warm, rest and positive attitude. We didn't preloaded with any forms of medicine and one of us managed to get a seasons best for summiting Island Peak. A hard and ultimately supremely satisfying experience. Points that must be noted. Island Peak is not easy, it needs to be taken seriously and physical conditioning is essential. To avoid angst you should allow 4 days at the end of the trip because flying from Lukla is notoriously unpredictable. So much so, that my insurance listed it as an exemption to the policy.

Amazing - Had an amazing time everywhere we looked was like a postcard picture. Our guide Deepak and porter Bikas looked after us very well and always kept us informed of the plan. Deepak was very knowledgable of all the mountains and altitudes. Deepak was always checking that we were well fed and had no altitude effects. I had a day with Bemba the climbing guide to climb and summit Island peak it was an amazing experience but one of the hardest challenges I’ve attempted not for beginners. Will recommend this trip to anyone that likes a challenge in a heavenly country

ACE The Himalaya 10/10. Wonderful people! - Ace The Himalaya was outstanding! I could not be happier with they service they provided! I think they go above and beyond what you would expect from a tour provider to make you feel safe and to make sure you enjoy the magnificent beauty that Nepal has to offer. It's also a completely Nepali owned and operated company which means all the money you spend goes right into the Nepalese Economy not into some western guide groups pocket. From the time we booked the trip they were very responsive and helpful and this didn't stop through the Post trip Celebration dinner ( which was a true highlight) they were there and readily available to help us with any and everything. The Accommodations both in Kathmandu and out in the Khumbu valley were all great! Once you landed In Kathmandu you really did not have to think about anything except enjoying your time. They took care of all the logistics from landing till departure! They are also priced very very competitively! It feels like you're getting a luxury trip for a standard trip price! Great Value! Our Guide Pemba Sitka Sherpa was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure our trip was an experience we will never forget! Our porter was also fast and very kind. It's incredible how strong those guys are! It's also nice that all of the different Ace tour groups stay at the same lodges through the trek. It makes it so you end up seeing the same people at dinner and in the evenings. This allowed us to make several groups of friends that we were able to enjoy the evenings with even though we were only a group of 2 initially. It also allows you to see and meet all the different guides up there who seemed eager and happy to talk and help anyone who was with Ace not just there own clients. You felt like you were part a big group but you still had the individual attention of a 2-1 guide ration. The team back at the HQ is attentive and hard working. Prem and Sujan were there to help us expertly navigate through several problems that we had which were certainly not caused by them. We had two big issues that they helped us resolve. 1) our bags took almost 36 hours to arrive after we landed in Kathmandu. This was a big problem as our trek was leaving the day after we arrived. The team at Ace easily moved our trip around to accommodate this which was great. More importantly though they had there team constantly reaching out to the airport staff trying to locate our luggage. They even sent one of there employees with us to the airport offices to try to help us get our bags. This was above and beyond what was expected but it was a life saver. having someone who speaks both English and Nepalese made sorting this out for us much easier as the airport workers were much more comfortable in there native language. 2) My wife unfortunate twisted her ankle quite severely during our trek and after a few days rest it was clear she would need to be evacuated back to Kathmandu. The Ace team was able to get us a helicopter the next morning at 6 am!. They were also able to have different guides escort my wife to the hospital in Lukla for X-rays and all the way back to kathmandu. This allowed me to continue for the last few days knowing she had a safe knowledgeable team assisting her every step of the way! I would recommend this company to absolutely everyone who is thinking about a trip to anywhere in the Nepal/Tibet region. You will not regret it !

Best Guide Company - I really don't have the words to express how amazing everyone at Ace the Himalaya is! Our trip from the start had some issues (bags not arriving in Kathmandu), and the Ace team went above and beyond what was needed to help us find our bags and get them to Kathmandu ASAP. Additionally, I ended up rolling my ankle on the trip and Prem was messaging me the entire time to ensure I made it back to Kathmandu. Our Sherpa Pemba was AMAZING! Incredibly knowledgeable and always a delight day in and day out. Can't wait to book another trip with Ace and trek with Pemba again!
