Highlights
  • Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Bhaktapur, an important and fascinating World Heritage Site, made up of three large squares filled with shrines, temples and activity; Bhaktapur is the essential Newari city with some of the finest architecture in Nepal. In its heyday (14th-16th centuries) Bhaktapur was the most powerful of the Kathmandu Valley kingdoms and its capital for 300 years.

Despite earthquakes and frequent rebuilding, Bhaktapur today retains a medieval feel; its neighborhoods are still caste oriented and centered around the old ponds or tanks (built to store water for drinking, washing and religious ceremonies) and which continue as a social focal point. Local people here are predominantly farmers or engaged in the traditional crafts of pottery, metalwork, art and woodwork which have supported the city since its establishment in the 12th century to service the trade route between Tibet and India and remain active industries. A fascinating place to explore!

Local exploration tours - We had a good time in Bhaktapur with a knowledgeable guide who gave us detailed information about the features of each building. Also, the lunch we had at a private house was the most delicious dal bhat during our stay in Nepal. I already miss that taste. I highly recommend this tour, which allows you to step into the lives of the local people.

Wonderful experience, well organized and insightful - The entire day was well planned out by our guide and driver. The transportation was efficient, clean and safe driving. At each and every site we were provided interesting detailed explanations about the place, the people and traditions. Our guide was proactive, patience and provided thoughtful care. Bhaktapur, Panauti and Patan were spectacular. The entire experience was flawless

Excellent experience - Great experience exploring two very different cities near Kathmandu. I enjoyed the information provided by our guide and also the option for some free time to take photos/shop. Lunch was at a lovely community home stay created to support women’s empowerment in a small town. Lovely experience all around! Be prepared for multiple hours of driving.

Highly Recommended Tour - I highly recommend this tour. Zuna was my tour guide and was very knowledgeable of Bkaktapur (her home Town). Travel sustainable electric van with a wonderful female driver. I really appreciated having a female guide in Nepal as it gives one a different perspective on local culture. My expert guide gave out small group an in-depth understanding of the History and Culture of the places we visited. Panauti isn’t visited often by tourists and I really enjoyed being tourist dollars to an area that sees few tourists (lunch is served in a Homestay and was excellent! I gives you an idea of what locals eat as it is removed from Kathmandu). This was my favorite tour in Nepal (aside from Mountain Flight of course)! Highly recommend. Thanks for a wonderful tour!

A fantastic day trip - This was a great tour. We got to see a fascinating part of Kathmandu that is definitely worth doing with a guide. Raj was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the history and culture of the region. We also had lunch with a local lady which was an unexpected excellent addition. Transportation was good. Altogether very professional.

Loved it! Would book it again, any time! - I couldn't have asked for a better driver and guide. Especially when traveling alone, things can be awkward. Not here! I learned a lot about the history and culture of Nepal that day. Booking this tour was such a good choice! Totally recommend it!
