Kathmandu to Nagarkot (38 km)
Thamel - The journey begins early in the morning after breakfast in Kathmandu, passing through the historic town of Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is a city rich in Newari culture, featuring numerous temples and ancient palaces. After exploring Bhaktapur, the route heads northeast to Nagarkot on a paved road. The 20 km ascent to Nagarkot offers views of steep terraced rice fields and traditional houses. Upon reaching the summit, weather permitting, the Himalayan ranges of Langtang and Khumbu can be seen. Overnight accommodation is at a hotel.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Bhaktapur is a city steeped in Newari culture, with many temples and historic palaces.
Nagarkot – Namo Buddha – Dhulikhel (35 km)
Nagarkot Nature Trail - Enjoy a morning sunrise. After breakfast, while viewing the sunrise over the Himalayas, the ride descends from Nagarkot to Nala and other Newari villages. Along the way, interesting villages of Chhetri and Brahmin natives can be observed, showcasing their daily agricultural activities. The journey continues to Dhulikhel on a dirt trail, climbing and descending small hills before reaching the sacred Buddhist site of Namo Buddha. Here, Buddha, in a previous life, offered his flesh to a hungry tigress. A stone statue marks this site, and an active monastery is located on the hilltop. The scenic route follows tarmac and dirt roads back to Dhulikhel, where the night is spent at a hotel.
Namobuddha Monastery - The sacred Buddhist site of Namo Buddha, where Buddha, in a previous life, offered his flesh to a hungry tigress. A stone statue marks the site, and an active monastery is situated on the hilltop.
Dhulikhel – Timal Danda (36 km)
Kali Temple - After breakfast, the journey to the renowned Timal Danda begins. The initial part of the ride to Bhakunde Besi is on a well-paved road. From there, the route ascends a dusty road to Timalcot. From the top of Timal Danda, there are stunning views of the Himalayan range and the Sun Koshi river valley to the north, and the Mahabharat range to the south. Once at the top, the route continues with small ascents and descents, passing through many Tamang villages up to Pawa. Overnight camping is arranged.
Timal Danda to Dhulikhel (37 km)
Thrangu Tashi Monastery - The ride begins with breathtaking Himalayan views to the north after breakfast. The route retraces the same trail back to Timalkot. From Timalkot, the descent continues through a dusty road to Panchkhal Valley. A small river, Ghue Khola, is crossed, leading to the valley of Tinpiple of Tamaghat. Overnight accommodation is at a resort in Dhulikhel.
Dhulikhel to Kathmandu via Lubhu Sisneri (33 km)

With just a brief cycling distance, you’ll find a charming universe of forest-covered slopes, small settlements, concealed temples, and stunning views of all the main peaks of the Nepal Himalaya - from Makalu to Annapurna. The trails offer an array of riding experiences that range from easy to somewhat technical single tracks along old jeep routes. Throughout this five-day adventure, we’ll delve into the rich sensory experience made up of the various sights, sounds, flavors, and aromas frequently witnessed in Nepal’s ‘Middle Hills’. Our explorations will include historical cities like Patan and Bhaktapur, hill station Nagarkot with its breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Nepal Himalaya during sunrise, and numerous temples and monasteries.
