After checking in, you will receive a briefing on your upcoming trek and an itinerary. With some free time, you can explore the bustling tourist area of Thamel or enjoy the sights of Kathmandu Valley. No meals are provided on this day.
Drive from Kathmandu to Besishahar to Chame (2760m) Duration: 8-9 hours.
Chame - Today’s journey takes you across several rivers, including the Trishuli River, where you might spot rafters, and the Marsyangdi River near Chame. The first stop is Besisahar, followed by Chame. This drive offers a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the local scenery and get a sense of the trek ahead.
Trek to Upper Pisang (3300m) Duration: 6 hours.
Trek to Manang (3500m) Duration: 5-6 hours.
Manang - The trek begins in Pisang, leading into the upper Manang area. Today’s destination is Braga, a Tibetan village known for its unique architecture with houses stacked upon each other. A highlight in Manang is its Gompa, the largest in the region. Manang is a popular stop for trekkers to acclimatize before ascending to higher altitudes.
Exploration & Acclimatization at Manang.
Manang - Health and climbing experts advise spending time acclimatizing before ascending to higher elevations, and staying active is highly recommended. From Manang, you can enjoy stunning views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III (7555m), Gangapurna (7454m), and to the south, Tilicho (7132m), and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge) to the west, Chulu West (6583m), and Chulu East (6059m) to the north. To aid acclimatization, a trek to Mt. Khangsar (3756m) and back to Manang is planned.
Trek to Yak Kharka (4,000m) Duration: 4-5 hours.
Yak Kharka - Today’s 10.4 km uphill trek to Yak Kharka passes through juniper forests, with yaks grazing in the alpine pastures along the way. The route also includes the only teahouse at Thorong Khola (river). Depending on weather and trail conditions, the group may continue a bit further to spend the night at Ledar.
Trek to Thorang Phedi (4,450m) Duration: 6 hours.
Trek to Muktinath (3,800m) via Thorang-la Pass (5,416 m) Duration: 8-9 hours.
Muktinath - This day is likely to be one of the most challenging, with 8 to 9 hours of trekking. The high altitude adds difficulty, and strong winds in these regions can make it even more demanding. Along the trail, you may encounter sheep, yaks, and merchants transporting goods by yak or donkey. Upon reaching Thorong La Pass, breathtaking views of Annapurna, Gangapurna, and the striking peak of Khatungkang (6484m) await. After crossing the pass, there is a descent of about 1600 meters. Dhaulagiri (Dhavali Giri, meaning “White Mountain”), the highest mountain entirely in Nepal, is also visible. The trail becomes more undulating and easier before arriving at Muktinath.
Trek to Jomsom (2,720m) Duration: 5-6 hours.
Jomsom - Departing from Muktinath, the trail leads through lush meadows, past orchards, and streams, passing the village of Kagbeni before reaching Jomsom in the Kali Gandaki Valley. Kagbeni is renowned for its vibrant horticulture industry.
Drive from Jomsom to Pokhara (8,50m) Duration: 7-8 hours.
Pokhara - The journey to Pokhara by local bus takes 7-8 hours, initially arriving at Tatopani via Beni Bazaar and then continuing to Pokhara. Known for its lake, Phewa Tal, Pokhara is a favorite among travelers and offers all the amenities of a small city. Your hotel will be located by “Lakeside,” where you can enjoy watching the sunset over the lake and mountains, a perfect way to unwind.
Drive back to Kathmandu (1,350m) Duration: 7-8 hours.
Kathmandu - The return journey to Kathmandu takes 7 to 8 hours, leaving you with cherished memories of Nepal’s unique culture, friendly villagers, and stunning landscapes. These experiences will bring joy whenever you recall them.
Transfer to the International Airport for your final departure.
TIA - On your last day in Nepal, Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will ensure you reach the airport at least three hours before your scheduled departure. As you fly home, you can begin planning your next adventure in Nepal.
