Sightseeing and Trek Preparation in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,593ft)
Kathmandu - Spend the day exploring the Kathmandu Valley, famously known as the city of temples. Out of the 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal, 7 are located in the Kathmandu Valley. You will visit sites such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambunath, Pashupatinath, and Bouddhanath, all of which are rich in architecture and historical significance. After sightseeing, you will be briefed on trekking essentials and prepare your backpacks for the next morning. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Fly to Pokhara (910m/2,984ft), Drive to Matkyu, and Trek to Jhinu Danda (1,760m/5,770ft)
Jhinu Danda - Begin the day with a scenic 25-minute flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a city that attracts thousands of travelers annually. From Pokhara, take a private vehicle or jeep for a 2-hour drive to Matkyu, where the trekking adventure begins. The trek starts with a short climb through oak and rhododendron forests, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the Modi River. The trail continues through dense forests and stone stairs until reaching Jhinu Danda, where you will spend the night. You may choose to enjoy a relaxing bath in one of Jhinu Danda’s natural hot springs to wash away the day’s exertions.
Trek to Upper Sinuwa (2,360m/7,742ft) Via Chhomrong (2,170m/7,120ft)
Trek to Himalaya (2,850m/9,350ft)
Annapurna Region - The day begins with uphill climbs through dense forests that gradually open up as you ascend. The open forests offer clear views of the glacial river below. The trail leads further up through a dry forest towards Hinku Cave, a significant landmark for early Annapurna I expeditions. From there, continue through the jungle trail with a slight uphill to reach Deurali, where you will stop for lunch. After a restful break, continue the trek towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC). Though the route is challenging, the breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre and surrounding peaks from MBC make it worthwhile. Overnight at a hotel in MBC.
Trek to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,750m/12,303ft)
Machhapuchhare Base Camp - The day starts with uphill climbs through dense forests that gradually open up as you ascend. The open forests offer clear views of the glacial river below. The trail leads further up through a dry forest towards Hinku Cave, a significant landmark for early Annapurna I expeditions. From there, continue through the jungle trail with a slight uphill to reach Deurali, where you will stop for lunch. After a restful break, continue the trek towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC). Though the route is challenging, the breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre and surrounding peaks from MBC make it worthwhile. Overnight at a hotel in MBC.
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft), then Descend to Dhovan (2,605m/8,546ft)
Annapurna Base Camp - On the seventh day, the trek leads to Annapurna Base Camp. From Machhapuchhre Base Camp, it is a 2-hour hike on a wide and clear trail. Annapurna Base Camp is situated at an elevation of 4,130 meters, offering stunning views of Annapurna South. You will also enjoy majestic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Macchapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, and other high Himalayas. Standing at the foot of the Annapurna Massifs and gazing at the towering peaks is truly breathtaking. After spending quality time at the base camp, retrace your steps back to Dhovan, descending through MBC, Deurali, and Himalaya. Overnight at a hotel in Dhovan.
Trek to Chhomrong (2,170m/7,120ft)
Chhomrong - The trek begins after breakfast, mostly downhill until reaching bamboo forests and a short ascent to Upper Sinuwa. The trek then descends further to the Chhomrong Khola and its suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge and walking a slightly inclined path for about an hour, you will arrive at Chhomrong, where you will spend the night. The residents of Chhomrong maintain traditional lifestyles and cultures that captivate tourists. You will have the opportunity to engage with the locals and experience their way of life.
Trek to Matkyu and Drive to Pokhara (910m/2,984ft)
Pokhara Lakeside - From Chhomrong, retrace the route back to Matkyu via Jhinu Danda. The trek involves descents through dense forests and numerous stone stairs. The trail passes through oak and rhododendron forests alongside the Modi River until reaching Matkyu. From there, take a jeep back to Pokhara and spend the night. Pokhara is renowned for its vibrant nightlife, live concerts, and beautiful city lights. You can also enjoy boating on Fewa Lake or rent a bicycle to explore the city. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
Fly to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
Kathmandu - After breakfast, fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to the hotel to relax and refresh. In the evening, a representative from K.J. Adventures will pick you up for a farewell dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
