Thai Cooking School Phuket (Kata Thai Cooking Class) - Our Thai Cooking Class is located at Kata next to Karon and Patong on the beautiful west coast of Phuket. The class takes only about 3-4 hours and what you learn from us lasts forever. The Lunch Courses start from basic ingredient choosing, cooking demonstration, actual cooking, and taste your own food. The Afternoon Courses start from walking through the Fresh Local Market. Taste some Fresh Fruits or Food. You will feel more confident when you see them again. You will know how to eat them and how delicious. The class has a friendly atmosphere to help to create good relationships with each other. We are not only cook but also entertainers.
• 10:30am/03:30pm Arriving in the cooking class at Kata beach we get to know each other with a relaxing and refreshing glass of lemongrass tea.
• 10:45am/04:30pm After you get relaxed and getting to know each other, you will start to learn how to cook with Sally and Jim. They will demonstrate and explain step by step the very Thai dishes you will prepare. Each student will receive a booklet with the recipes of the day and an apron.
• 01:00pm/07:00pm Lunchtime. Enjoy your Thai Lunch cooked by yourself.
• 01:30pm/07:30pm Return to Hotel

100/10 experience! - Absolutely loved my experience at Kata Cooking School! From the moment you walk in, Sally and Jim make you feel genuinely welcome—warm, friendly, and so generous with their knowledge. The school is immaculately clean, and the way everything is explained is clear, thoughtful, and confidence-building. The techniques are taught properly, not rushed, and you really feel supported every step of the way.
What truly sets Kata apart is that you’re never treated like just another booking. You’re seen, encouraged, and valued, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable and inspiring. Wonderful experience. Fun and educational class. Jim was funny and a great teacher. Highly recommend! - Jim and Sally are great hosts. The cooking space was clean and welcoming. As first timers we learnt heaps. I have a lot more confidence now and looking forward to trying the recipes at home.

If you love Thai food, do this cooking class - The only place to do a cooking class when you're in Phuket.
Jim is amazing. He has so much energy, is funny and makes the class so interesting and interactive.
He picks you up from your hotel, along with other guests who may have booked the same time slot class.
You generally get to cook 4 dishes and the menu changes based on the day of the week. Certain classes start off with a market visit to choose ingredients.
Jim takes great care in explaining all the different Thai ingredients and cooking methods as well as helping with substitutions if certain ingredients may not be available in your country.
Once you have cooked your 4 dishes, you sit around a communal table to enjoy the feast. You leave with a recipe booklet full of tips and notes on the dishes you cooked.
After class, Jim drops you back at your hotel. Can highly recommend them for a fun activity, we thoroughly enjoyed it as a family. Our hotel offered cooking classes of similar dishes but were way more expensive, charging more than what we paid to learn how to cook 4 dishes for just 1 dish.

Great time!! - We had a wonderful time at Kata Cooking school. Jim picked us up and took us to a market to teach us about different Thai cuisine. Then we cooked! Jim was an awesome instructor. We had the very best time. The food was exceptional. I would recommend this cooking school again and again! Jim was very funny and engaging and we laughed the whole time.

A must do cooking class - The whole day was excellent from pickup to drop off. Jim was very good at explaining all the ingredients and the techniques needed to put together the 4 dishes we made, the flavors were amazing.

Great fun - great food - Had a wonderful morning from the time Jim picked us up - he is a very friendly and knowledgeable character who can relate well to all age groups and nationalities. Jim walked us through the local markets where he purchased his fresh produce for the dishes we are cooking and shows us with detailed instructions how to cook 4 delicious local Thai dishes. Overall a great experience and a lot of fun

Amazing Experience - I would highly recommend this cooking school. We made 4 dishes from scratch. It first started with a market tour and then we go into the preparation and then cooking, of course eating after that!
We are foodies but have never cooked Thai food before. I would highly recommend you book in.

A must do cooking class. - This was the best cooking class we have ever been to and we have been to many. I would definitely recommend these classes, Jimmy was fantastic with all ages, the teenagers loved it also.

A must do family activity! - We booked as a family including children aged between 10 and 15. It was a great family experience - lots of fun had by all.
Jim picked us up from our hotel and on the way to the cooking school we stopped at a local market. Here Jim showed us the different types of seafood and vegetables - Jim is so charismatic and really involved the whole family. It was interesting to learn about the different ingredients that we would be cooking with.
We arrived at the cooking school and were warmly greeted by the rest of Jim’s team. The whole experience was super organised, interactive and fun. We learnt a lot about Thai ingredients and way of cooking. We cooked Tom yum soup, green curry, had Thai and mango sticky rice - we cooked everything from scratch and all got to tailor our food to our own taste and spice tolerance.
After cooking all our food we got to enjoy the food in a relaxed setting, chatting with Jim and admiring his impressive collection of LEGO cities and fairgrounds!
We would highly recommend and would go back again if we visit Phuket again.
