  The ancient Indian epic “Ramayana” mentions that Ravana’s brother (Kuwera/Waisrwana) owned Alakamandawa (Sigiriya). The Ravana Watha Palm Leaf Book states that Mayadanawa was the architect of Sigiriya, constructing it under the guidance of Vessamuni/Wishrawa Muni (Ravana’s father). Ultimately, the palace was dedicated to Ravana’s brother, King Kuwera (Waishrawana). Later, Ravana expelled Kuwera and took control of Sigiriya.
