• Unazuki Onsen - Travel by private bus from Kanazawa to Unazuki Onsen station. This town retains its original architectural charm from when it was established as an onsen resort town a century ago. Enjoy a brief walk along the historic hiking path to the Kurobe Dam. Along the way, experience the scenic views that await on the trolley train and gain insights into the area’s history! Afterward, there will be some free time in the town and an early lunch. The guide will recommend some local restaurants.

• Kurobe Gorge - Gather at Unazuki Onsen Station to prepare for the trolley train journey.

There are no shops or restaurants on the train, so feel free to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy during the ride. Along the way, view the Kurobe Dam, a bridge for monkeys to cross the river, a Buddha statue made to protect travelers, and arrive at Nekomata Station.

Due to the January 1, 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, the full route of the Kurobe Gorge Trolley Train is currently under repair, with a full reopening expected in 2026. Approximately 60% of the route is open, ending at Nekomata, which serves as a temporary rest area.

The area remains a worthwhile visit! Many of the main attractions are within the accessible section, and the area is among the most beautiful in Japan.

• Unazuki Onsen - Before departure, there will be time for last-minute shopping around Unazuki, visiting the renowned “Healing Buddha,” or enjoying a relaxing moment in the footbath, which uses the same water as the town’s hot springs.

Soon, it’s time to depart and begin the journey back. Feel free to relax on the bus ride, but it’s also a great opportunity to ask any questions about the next stage of the Japan journey or get some excellent dinner recommendations for the evening!
