Unforgettable time in Uganda - unique encounter with the gorillas. Fantastic honeymoon! - We were on our honeymoon with Mambo Gorilla Safaris Uganda for 8 days at the end of October/beginning of November and it was indescribable! Didan and his travel company were recommended to us by a friend in Germany and so we discussed the itinerary in advance easily by email and WhatsApp and were able to adapt it to our wishes at short notice. Didan picked us up at the hotel in Kigali, Rwanda and drove us across the border to Uganda. After some initial difficulties (withdrawing enough cash, because you can't get US dollars from an ATM and so we had to exchange Ugandan shillings for dollars; getting a SIM card also took over an hour) we drove to our first stop: Lake Bunyonyi. We stayed overnight and had dinner at his accommodation, the Lake Bunyonyi View Resort. In the evening we went on a boat on the lake and were able to see some of the 29 islands and even swim. The next day we drove to a future lodge owned by Didan, which is still under construction. There we were allowed to pick tea and plant a new tree to reforest the forest. Then the highlight of the program was gorilla trekking. We drove to Bwindi National Park and after a hike of just 20 minutes we were with a gorilla family by lunchtime. We were alone with a ranger and it was an incredibly beautiful experience to see the gorillas so close. They climbed trees, ate plants and fooled around. A truly unique experience. We then spent 3 nights in Queen Elizabeth National Park and saw 4 of the big 5 on a game drive in the morning: water buffalo, lions, leopards, hippos. It was pleasantly empty in the NP, we only saw about 8-10 other jeeps. In the afternoon we went on the Kazinga Channel in a boat with a group and were able to observe lots of hippos and a whole group of elephants. A very nice experience! On a chimpanzee trekking tour we unfortunately only saw one chimpanzee high up in the trees, but the hike through the rainforest was still a lot of fun. We also had accommodation in Kibale NP and Lake Mburo NP and it was very nice to get to know different regions. A community walk through the swamp areas with contact with locals was also interesting, so we helped with coffee and gin production. We also drove to viewpoints and planned various places for lunch on the routes. We were always well looked after with breakfast, lunch and dinner! Everything was organized and we didn't have to worry about anything. The staff in all lodges were friendly and helpful! In the Buffalo Safari Lodge, a special, lovely dinner was prepared for us especially because of our honeymoon, with music and flower decorations and candles. Very romantic! We also appreciated the numerous conversations with Didan while driving or eating to better understand the country. Didan makes a great contribution to moving his community forward. Thank you for planning this special trip for us and for everything going so well. We are more than happy to have gotten to know so much of Uganda. The nature and wildlife is breathtaking!

Must book Mambo - We just finished a tour with Mambo and had the best time. We will be back! There are so many safari options to choose from, we wish we booked more with Mambo to see the climbing tree lions and the big 5. Didan took us to the location of the new lodge, and we were blessed to be a part of replanting some of the forest to encourage gorilla activity. Robert, our driver, told us all of the history of uganda as we drove across the country. The food we had was all very tasty and prepared well with vegetarian options. Thank you so much, Mamboo safari team! If you are considering Mambo we can't recommend this tour enough!
