Lubiri - The Buganda Kingdom is a lively and dedicated promoter of cultural tourism in Uganda. This tour will lead you to Lubiri, the ceremonial palace of the King of Buganda. A visit to this palace requires approximately two hours, during which you can explore Idi Amin’s Torture Chambers, where many Ugandans lost their lives, before heading to Kabaka’s Lake, locally known as Akayanja ka Kabaka. This artificial lake was created to connect Lubiri with Lake Victoria, as the King wanted a more convenient way to enjoy swimming and canoeing without traveling from his palace. After Lubiri, the tour continues to Mengo, the parliament of Buganda, and then to the Kasubi Tombs, the burial site for the kings of Buganda.

Uganda Martyrs Shrine - The Namugongo shrines honor 22 young Christian followers who were tragically killed by Kabaka Mwanga between 1885 and 1887 for their commitment to Christianity. They were beatified in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV and later canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1964. These 22 Martyrs are the only African saints with a basilica dedicated to them and represent the largest group of saints ever canonized by the Catholic Church.
Every 3rd of June, the Catholic Church, along with their Anglican counterparts, gather at this site from across Africa, many arriving on foot, to commemorate this day in tribute to their religious heroes. The unique architecture of the African hut, serving as a temple of worship, makes this a remarkable tour destination, having hosted three Popes.
- Nakasero Market - A Kampala city tour is incomplete without visiting the local markets. Exploring these bustling city markets on foot is an exhilarating experience, offering insight into how traders manage their businesses in a crowded environment. The traders’ hospitality is exceptional, showcasing the friendliness of Ugandans. Here, visitors can sample a variety of organic vegetables and fruits native to Tropical Africa.
