- Orangutan Gallery - Originally established as a rehabilitation center for orangutans, Bukit Lawang has evolved into one of the most renowned tourist destinations in North Sumatra province. In 1972, a Swiss organization founded this site to facilitate the rehabilitation of orangutans from captivity, enabling their return to the wild. Bukit Lawang was selected as the second orangutan rehabilitation center following Ketambe. By 1980, the Gunung Leuser National Park was officially established and recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve, and it was designated as an ASEAN Heritage Park in 1984.

The journey starts with a walk along the river, ascending through rubber plantations towards the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.
Upon entering the jungle, participants are likely to observe wildlife high in the tree canopies.

Following breakfast, the guide will arrive at the guesthouse around 9:00 am to begin the day’s adventure.
The journey starts with a walk along the river, ascending through rubber plantations towards the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.
Upon entering the jungle, participants are likely to observe wildlife high in the tree canopies.
The trek continues through the rainforest, pausing for a delightful snack of tropical fruits. The hike then ascends again, offering about an hour of walking with breathtaking views of the Bohorok River valley and Gunung Leuser National Park in the background.
After enjoying a jungle lunch, the exploration proceeds through the jungle to encounter fascinating wildlife such as Long Tail Macaques, Pig Tail Macaques, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, and Monitor Lizards. A stop at a small creek or waterfall provides an opportunity for a refreshing swim. Following this brief rest, the trek continues upstream to the Bohorok River, with more chances to spot incredible wildlife along the way.
