Oda Nobunaga was an ally of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who is portrayed in the Hollywood historical drama “SHOUGUN.” The museum displays historical artifacts collected by an individual captivated by him.
As a history enthusiast, the operator will select exhibits that merit explanation and provide insights using a personally created English audio guide. The tour will not only guide visitors through the exhibits but also explain their historical context and offer easy-to-understand reference materials.
- Takiyama Park, Takiyama Castle Remains - A tour of Takiyama Castle, a Warring States period castle where real battles occurred, will be provided.
- It is reputed to have been the “largest castle in the Kanto region” during the Sengoku period.
- The remains are well-preserved and considered “the greatest masterpiece of medieval castle construction.”

The paths leading to the tour course are relatively well-maintained.
This is an earthen castle built by cutting into a mountain for battles. It is not the castle that was not fought as shown in the tourist guide.
★ An English audio guide created by an individual will accompany the tour. The content was developed with reference to a book by a researcher of Takiyama Castle.
Please wear casual shoes such as sneakers. There are no steep slopes to navigate. There is no danger.
Toilets are located in the center of the castle.

This tour offers an insightful exploration of the Sengoku period, a time when samurai were most active. Enthusiasts of Japan’s Sengoku period samurai are encouraged to join.
At the Taigan History and Art Museum, participants will view swords recognized as Important Cultural Properties by the Japanese government, along with authentic armor and helmets, matchlock guns, battle paintings, and a full-scale model of Azuchi Castle (a reproduction of the 5th and 6th floors of the castle tower) constructed by the Sengoku period daimyo Oda Nobunaga.
Following this, the tour proceeds to Takiyama Castle, once owned by the Hojo clan and the site of a genuine Sengoku period battle, where visitors will learn about its historical remains.
The guide is an audio guide, crafted by a history enthusiast, providing an educational experience about the Sengoku period rather than a typical tourist explanation.
- Takiyama Castle is not a steep hill, but it does take about 5 minutes to walk uphill.
- Due to narrow roads in some areas, wheelchair access is not possible within Takiyama Castle.
