Situated high above the sea, Goishizan, the second temple of the Shodoshima Pilgrimage, is a striking sacred mountain site imbued with a spiritual ambiance. At the main hall, Hououku (Phoenix Cave), where the principal deity Namikiri Fudō Myōō is honored, a powerful Goma Fire Prayer is conducted daily. Within the cave, the flickering flames, aromatic incense, and resonant chanting of sutras create an ethereal experience that feels worlds away from daily life.

From the temple path, expansive views stretch across Uchiumi Bay, the Harima-nada Sea, and the island-dotted Seto Inland Sea, presenting one of the region’s most stunning panoramas. The serene landscape offers a refreshing sense of peace for both pilgrims and travelers.
