• 61884 Commercial St - Excited to guide you on a journey into the world of SUNPRINTS, also known as cyanotypes. This is one of the easiest printing techniques you can do at home without the need for costly equipment or a specialized photography darkroom. Cyanotypes, once popular with engineers into the 20th century, are now being embraced by photographers and artists looking to broaden their creative possibilities with this enjoyable alternative printing method.

In this 3-hour workshop, participants will explore the process of creating SUNPRINTS. Utilizing the power of the desert sun, we will produce a cyan blue print. Attendees will learn about the history of the process, as well as how to coat paper and expose prints. Prior to the class, participants will send a few photos, and digital photo negatives will be prepared. We will print from these negatives and also imprint on paper using natural and 3D objects. Found objects such as dried plants, crystals, and feathers can be used, but don’t worry about bringing anything as there will be plenty of fun objects available.
No prior experience is necessary. Participants will leave with 5-10 cyanotype prints (9”x 12”) on various paper types and mediums.
