Additional Information

Despite not being located along a coast, lake or river, Johannesburg holds the title for the largest ‘dry port’ globally. The city is the primary destination for more than half of the cargo shipped through the ports of Durban and Cape Town, all of which is managed at the City Deep container terminal. Johannesburg’s history stretches back beyond 120 years, having been established on 4th October 1886 during the gold rush, but it remains among the world’s youngest major cities. Of all the cities in Africa, only Cairo, Egypt’s vibrant metropolis, surpasses Johannesburg in size, making it the second-largest city on the continent.

A tour to temembet - We truly enjoyed the tour today. It was very organized and professionally planned. Our cumpliments to Simon and Cosmos, who proved to be extremely knowledgeable, patient, and polite. We learned very much about South Africa’s history and culture, and had a lot of fun throughout our tour. A day to be fondly remembered.
