Dunhuang Airport - Upon your arrival by flight or train, your local driver and tour guide will greet you with a welcome sign displaying your name. They will transfer you to your hotel and assist with check-in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Note: For pick-up from Liuyuan train station, there is a fee of 500 CNY per car (1-6 people, 7-seater van).

Dunhuang - Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at approximately 09:00 AM. You will be taken to the famous Yumenguan Pass, a journey of about 120 minutes covering 113 km.

Yumen Pass - “Yumenguan” translates to Jade Pass in Chinese, and it is believed that jade from the Western region was transported into central China through this pass. It served as the gateway to the western region on the northern Silk Road and was a strategic military pass and significant route of the ancient Silk Road.

Great Wall of the Han Dynasty - Continue the tour to the Great Wall of the Han Dynasty (206 BC to 220 BC). Unlike other sections made of bricks and stones, this part is constructed from rammed earth, gravel, and juniper. Although time and human activity have caused damage, the original appearance of the wall is still visible.

Next, proceed to River Storage City, an important military storage city that played a crucial role on the ancient Silk Road from the Weijin to Han Dynasty. It is cleverly designed and well-preserved, remaining hidden until you reach it.

Yadan National Geological Park - After lunch, drive to Yadan National Geological Park, a landscape shaped by wind erosion. Upon entering the park, you will find various natural sculptures in different forms. Use your imagination to name these unique land formations. It is recognized as a world Geo-park by The Ministry of Land and Resources P.R.C.

Shazhou Night Market - Finally, visit the Shazhou Night Market for dinner.

The Dunhuang Shazhou Night Market is the largest in the city, offering a wonderful opportunity for an evening stroll and souvenir shopping. It represents Dunhuang’s nightlife and is considered a “nightlife landscape.” It is highly popular among tourists worldwide for its local specialties and rich cultural atmosphere.

Mogao Caves - The Mogao Grottoes, constructed over a millennium from the 4th to 14th centuries, are also known as the Thousand Buddha Caves. They are one of China’s most notable grottoes and the best-preserved treasure house of Buddhist art, sutras, murals, and sculptures in the world.

Crescent Moon Pool - Visit the mysterious Crescent Lake, named for its crescent moon shape formed by a small pool of spring water between two large sand dunes. You can slide down the Sounding Sand Dunes to hear the unique sounds they produce. Known as “the first spring in the desert,” the formation of this geological wonder remains unexplained. The lake, resembling a crescent moon, has been nestled in the vast desert for thousands of years, with its water remaining clear and sweet.

Mingsha Shan - Echoing-Sand Mountain - Next, visit the Singing Sand Mountains (Mingsha Mountain) where you can enjoy sand surfing and camel riding (at your own expense). Mingsha Mountain extends from the Mogao Caves in the east, stretching 40 kilometers from east to west and 20 kilometers from south to north.

Dunhuang - At the end of the day, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.
