Beijing West Railway Station - The driver will collect you from your hotel lobby in Beijing and transport you to Beijing West Railway Station. You will board the morning bullet train to Pingyao Old Town, a journey that takes approximately 4 hours.

Ancient City of Pingyao - Accompanied by a tour guide, embark on a walking tour of Pingyao Old City. Established during the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 – 771 BC) and reconstructed in 1370, Pingyao is one of China’s four best-preserved ancient cities. As you enter, the historical ambiance is palpable.

Ming and Qing Dynasties Street - Wander along the Ming and Qing Dynasties Street, lined with shops offering local handicrafts.

Rishengchang Former Bank - Visit the Rishengchang Former Bank, showcasing the prominence of China’s first exchange shops.

Pingyao Ancient Government Office - Discover the intricacies of feudal bureaucracy at the ancient government office.

Pingyao - Beijing (L)

Wang’s Family Compound (Wang Jia Dayuan) - Your guide and driver will collect you from your hotel in the morning to visit the Wang Family Compound.

The Wang Family Compound is a grand residence constructed between 1762-1811 by the Wang Family descendants. It serves as both a residential architectural example and a museum of architectural art, featuring intricate stone, wood, and brick sculptures throughout the courtyard. The craftsmanship is both refined and exquisite, with 231 courtyards and 2,078 houses.

Shuanglin Temple - After lunch at a local restaurant, explore Shuanglin Temple on the outskirts of the ancient city. Known as the ‘ancient painted sculptures museum,’ Shuanglin Temple houses over 2,000 colorful sculptures, showcasing the artisans’ skills from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. In 1997, it was recognized by UNESCO as a significant cultural site of Pingyao City.

Beijing West Railway Station - After concluding your Pingyao tour, your guide and driver will take you to Pingyao Railway Station in the late afternoon. Enjoy a relaxing 4-hour bullet train ride back to Beijing. Upon arrival, your driver will meet you at Beijing West Railway Station and transfer you back to your hotel in Beijing City. Alternatively, you may choose to conclude your tour in Pingyao City.

Note: You will travel by train independently, and your local English-speaking tour guide will meet you in Pingyao to guide you through the sites over two days.
