Still drooling - A Great way to spend the morning! Our intro to scallion pancakes had us salivating and wanting more. The 'exploding fish' was also delicious. Sylvia was very friendly and was very accommodating to even show us a street food market (veg and fish) which we stumbled upon.

Amazing foodie experience through the French Concession - Had a blast during my breakfast tour with Max. He was very knowledgeable with the area and gave us a lot of insight behind the places we visited! Everything was included in the price and we got to walk around areas I likely wouldn't have found on my own. The highlight for me was an incredible coffee shop that I'll definitely be visiting tomorrow!

Great guide and new delicious dishes - Max was a fab tour guide! I joined on my own and found it a fun experience. I loved the rice fermented coffee and scallion pancakes, as well as learning about some new dishes I would never have known about. Max gave us information about the history of the food and local area, and had an iPad with photos to give context to the tour. I was having such a. good time, I forgot to photograph half of the food we ate. The group was very friendly and chatty but if you prefer to sit back and listen you could do that too. I'll be booking with Lost Plates again and definitely recommend!

Excellent Breakfast Tour - We joined the Lost Plate morning food tour in Shanghai and had a great experience. Our guide, Max Tang, was amazing, easy to talk to, and really knew the local spots. The whole morning felt relaxed and fun, and it ended up being one of our favorite things we did in the city. We’d definitely recommend the tour, and Max made it even better.

A Breakfast Tour That Fed Both Stomach and Mind - We joined Lost Plate’s breakfast tour in Shanghai and were lucky to have Max as our guide. What set him apart was the way he connected each bite to Shanghai’s broader story — scallion pancakes reflecting the city’s astonishing pace of development, fried fish embodying the ingenuity required during the planned economy, and even fermented rice coffee offering cultural insights into family roles and breadwinners. He made each stop feel like a window into Shanghai itself, and turned breakfast into something unforgettable. Five stars, without hesitation.

Great intro to Shanghai’s food culture! - It was great to try different local Shanghai foods and new styles of coffee. Max was a very knowledgeable guide and provided lots of information about Shanghai’s history and food culture. Even though I have been living in China for two years I still managed to learn something new.
