- Mar Saba Monastery - Begin the day with a drive through the suburbs of Bethlehem to explore Mar Saba Monastery in the Judean Desert. This historic Christian monastery, built into a cliff during the Byzantine era, is one of the largest in the world. While only men can enter the sanctuary, our private Mar Saba tour allows women to enjoy stunning views of the Jordan Valley and see the monastery’s interior from the base of the southern tower, located outside the walls.
- Shepherd’s Sanctuary - Take a short drive to Beit Sahour, a historic town whose name means “Place of the Night Watch,” referring to the shepherds who watched over their flocks by night. Situated 1 km east of Bethlehem, it was once inhabited by Canaanites in its many caves and is now home to numerous churches and convents. Churches mark the sites of Shepherds Field, the Field of Ruth, and the Well of the Lady.
Visit Shepherd’s Field in Beit Sahour, 2 km east of Bethlehem, where angels appeared to shepherds with the joyous news of Jesus’ birth. Accompanied by a multitude of heavenly hosts, the angel sang, ‘Glory to God in the Highest and on Earth, Peace among men.’
- Star Street - Return to the Old City of Bethlehem and its quarters. Walk along “Star Street,” visit the Syriac Quarter, one of Bethlehem’s historic quarters where locals reside, and stop by the old entrance of Bethlehem, believed to be the path Joseph and Mary took from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
- Church of the Nativity - Explore the Nativity Church, constructed by Justinian in 530 AD. Enter the Byzantine basilica through the Door of Humility and view the original floor of Constantine’s first church from 326 AD.
