Mysterious Road (Dokkaebi Road) - 도깨비도로(Mysterious Road)
This intriguing location is known as Jeju Mysterious Road or Dokkaebi Road. It gained its reputation because when a car is placed on this steep road, it appears to roll uphill, seemingly defying gravity. This phenomenon is actually an optical illusion, where the surroundings deceive the eye, making the road seem tilted in the opposite direction. - Eoseungsaengak Trail - Eoseungsaengak (Eoseungsaeng Volcanic Cone), a parasitic volcano of Hallasan Mountain, can be accessed from the Eorimok District of Hallasan Mountain National Park. From Cheonwangsa Temple, take the 1100 Road to Seogwipo. The round trip from Eorimok to the summit of Eoseungsaengak Peak takes about an hour. The hiking trail features log stairs, and the path is lined with wide wooden boards to prevent soil erosion at the summit. At the trail’s start, a sign reads “Eoseungsaengak Hiking Trail.” The name Eoseungsaeng originates from “the place where the king’s horse flies,” and an intriguing legend accompanies it. A central official, falsely accused of treason, was exiled and died here, concerned only for the king and the country. He declared, “I will be reborn as a horse ridden by the king to support him.”
- Cheonjeyeon Falls - Cheonjeyeonpokpo Falls, a three-tiered waterfall, is another must-see attraction in Seogwipo. While the first section of the waterfall is active only after rain, the second and third sections flow year-round.
- Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - Jeju Jungmun Resort is blessed with stunning natural scenery and numerous entertainment and convenience facilities for both domestic and international tourists. Jusangjeolli Cliff, near the International Convention Center Jeju, offers a breathtaking view with its massive rock pillars lining the coastline.

Yongmeori Coast - 용머리해안 (Yongmeori Coast)
The Yongmeori Coast is named for its resemblance to a dragon diving into the ocean with its head raised (“Yong” means dragon and “Meori” means head in Korean). Yongmeori is a sandstone bed formed by layers of sand deposited over tens of millions of years. The coast’s mysterious scenery is awe-inspiring. At the coast’s base is a Hamel Monument, established by the Embassy of the Netherlands and the Korean Foundation on April 1st, 1980, to strengthen diplomatic ties between Korea and the Netherlands and to honor Hendrick Hamel’s dedication and efforts. -
Jeongbang Waterfall - 정방폭포 (Jeongbang Falls)
Jeongbang Falls is one of Jejudo Island’s top three waterfalls, along with Cheonjiyeon Falls and Cheonjeyeon Falls. It is the only waterfall in Korea where water cascades directly into the sea. The fall is 23 meters high, and the two streams of water that descend the black cliff create a thrilling sound and a stunning view. Additionally, the steep cliffs and ancient pine trees surrounding the fall create a picturesque scene, recognized as one of the Ten Scenic Sights of Yeongju, known as “Jeongbanghapok.” It is said that the words ‘Seobulgwacha’ are engraved on the cliffs of Jeongbang Falls. -
Oedolgae - 외돌개 (Oedolgae)
Oedolgae, the starting point of Jeju Olle Trail Course 7, is a stone pillar rising 20 meters high from the sea. Standing alone in the sea, it is named ‘Oedolgae’. It is also referred to as ‘General Stone’ and ‘Grandma Rock’. A story tells that General Choi Yeong adorned this rock like a general during a battle against the Yuan Dynasty, causing the enemy to self-destruct. For the origin of the name ‘Grandma Rock’, refer to the legend below. Not only the visible rocks but also the life of Jeju people waiting for the sea’s bounty can be observed.
These stone pillars are believed to have formed during a volcanic eruption. A chimney-shaped stone pillar, where surrounding rocks are eroded by waves, leaving only strong rocks, is scientifically termed a sea stack. -
Cheonjiyeon Falls - 천지연폭포(Cheonjiyeon Falls)
At Cheonjiyeon Falls, white water cascades from the rock cliff, creating a thunderous sound. Its name means “sky connected with land.” It stands 22 meters high and 12 meters wide, and the view and sound of the falling waters are magnificent. Not only Elaeocarpus, designated as Natural Monument 163, but also a variety of temperate plants such as brambles, Psilotum nudum (L.) Griseb., Siebold’s chinquapin, Shiny xylosma, and camellias thrive in the valley near Cheonjiyeon Falls. It is also renowned for the Natural Habitat for Giant Mottled Eels (Natural Monument 27), which are nocturnal.
