Sangumburi Crater - 산굼부리(Sangumburi Crater)
Sangumburi Crater stands out from Jeju’s 360-plus parasitic cones as it wasn’t formed by the accumulation of erupted materials. Instead, it is a maar-type parasitic cone, created as a crater with a hole when numerous materials were expelled. The inner area measures 300,000㎡, with an interior bottom circumference of 756m and an exterior circumference of 2,070m. The crater is nearly vertical and approximately 130m tall, making it slightly larger and deeper than Hallasan Mountain. In autumn, the ridges of Sangumburi Crater turn golden with waves of silvergrass. Cedar trees dominate the eastern and western slopes, while Sawtooth oak surrounds the area. Additionally, Korean Fir has been planted to create a forest path. Apart from these lush forests, colonies of Eulalia grass cover large sections of the crater. -
Seongsan Ilchulbong - 성산일출봉(seongsan illchulbong)
Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, a prominent attraction of Jeju, was formed around 5,000 years ago from a magma eruption on the ocean floor. It is particularly renowned as a sunrise viewing spot, considered one of the top ten exquisite sceneries of Jeju Island. Besides sunrise viewing, Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone is also an excellent trekking destination. The Seongsan-Ojo Trail connects two villages by crossing the peak. Another popular trail, the Jijil Trail, offers a closer look at the UNESCO-designated geopark and Jeju’s local culture. Walking along these paths is recommended to fully experience the area; reaching the summit provides views of both the expansive volcanic crater and the surrounding blue ocean. To complete the visit, head to Seongsanpo Port to watch haenyeo (female divers) at work. - Jeju Island - During winter (December to February), visitors can enjoy Jeju’s delightful tangerine picking experience. In other seasons, this is replaced by a visit to Seongeup Folk Village.
- Jeongbang Waterfall - Jeongbang Falls is one of Jejudo Island’s top three waterfalls, along with Cheonjiyeon Falls and Cheonjeyeon Falls. It is the only waterfall in Korea where water cascades directly into the sea. The fall is 23m high, and the two streams of water that descend the black cliff create a thrilling sound and a stunning view. Moreover, the steep cliffs and ancient pine trees around the fall create a picturesque scene, recognized as one of the Ten Scenic Sights of Yeongju, known as “Jeongbanghapok.” According to legend, a man named Seobul visited the island in search of an elixir plant on the orders of China’s Qin Shu Huangdi long ago. Unable to find the plant, he headed west to return to China but was captivated by Jeongbang Falls, leading him to inscribe “Seobulgwacha” on the cliff. However, these words have yet to be discovered in reality.
- Camellia Hill - Situated in Sangchang Village, Andeok-myeon, the 20-hectare park boasts around 6,000 camellia trees and over 500 different species of wildflowers, trees, and other plants, such as hydrangeas. It’s about an hour by bus southwest of Jeju City. Camellia Hill also features facilities like a gallery for camellia-themed crafts, greenhouses, a multipurpose seminar room, and more.
- O’sulloc Tea Museum - The Osulloc Tea Museum, located next to the Seogwang tea field in Jeju, is Korea’s first tea museum, opened in 2001 by AMOREPACIFIC to introduce and promote tea and Korean traditional tea culture. It is a cultural space that blends East and West, tradition and modernity, and includes a tea museum, a nature-friendly rest area, and a cafe space where visitors can enjoy delicious and diverse tea-based menus.
