• Haenyeo Museum - The Jeju haenyeo are revered as the strong mothers of Jeju and the spiritual pillars of its residents. Their community life serves as a model for humanity, characterized by merit-based organization and democratic decision-making. They cared for the elderly and infirm, such as Halmang Badang and Geseok, and used their earnings to support society, including villages and schools. They also devised various methods to coexist with the sea, such as beach sweeping, gold snatching, and dialysis. The culture of Jeju haenyeo was recognized for its significance and was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on November 30, 2016 (local time).
