Refine your rowing techniques during the serene start, leading up to the damp and untamed portions. You don’t need prior experience to partake in this exciting and refreshing aquatic escapade. The excursion concludes with an intense glacial splash courtesy of The Whopper- a wave famous in the area.
Participants need to be 12 years or older and ready to engage in paddling.
Transport is available from the Jasper town center.
- May be operated by a multi-lingual guide
- Minimum 12 years of age
- Prepared to paddle - although no experience required
- Arrive 60 minutes prior to the trip time.
- Wear your bathing suit or t-shirt and shorts under regular clothes. All river gear is provided.
Location
RV Parking Lot
Please arrive 60 minutes early for Sunwapta River trips (eg.11:00 for a 12:00 trip time). The RV Parking lot is located next to the Jasper Home Building Centre (706 Sleepy Hollow Road), and is directly across the railway tracks from the intersection of Connaught Drive and Hazel Avenue.

Amazing family adventure - I was looking for something fun and unique for our family (with 2 teenagers) to enjoy while on our trip to Alberta. This adventure was an absolute highlight. It is so well organized, from start to finish. The staff has such good energy and they all work so well together. Our daughter was really nervous but Shane, our guide, was incredibly experienced, reassuring and calm. She felt safe and loved it.
The rafting is so much fun and the views are jaw-dropping. You have to see it to believe it. Highly highly recommend doing - this with teens especially.

Fantastic staff! - The guides were amazing!! We had Nate as our rafting guide and Annaja and blaire as our bus drivers. They were super informative and fun to speak to. We couldn’t recommend this experience more.

So much fun, even in the cold and rain. - A cold and dreary day, but it didn’t matter! Still so much fun! All you need to do is wear a swimsuit, they give you everything else you need (wetsuit, helmet, socks, booties, and of course a tutorial and direction the whole time). We’ve rafted the Arkansas River in CO, and the Gallatin in MT, and the Sunwapta rivals the Arkansas as a favorite! Lots of juicy waves (at least when we went), so prepare to get wet! The weather was 59°F and sprinkling on and off. Our hands got a little cold, but as long as you’re paddling when told to by the guide, you stay comfortable. The highlight of our trip to Jasper! Thanks to the whole crew! We had a great time and highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it.

Ah-maxing - Ah-mazing! Our guide drenched my daughter, which made it all worth it. Awesome rapids about 40% of the time. Some of us in our family had done the New River in West Virginia and the Colorado. This was so much better. We all got quite wet. Our knowledgeable guide knew how to get the most wow factor out of the rapids while still keeping us safe.

A memorable adventure in Jasper - Just had an amazing white water rafting experience on the Sunwapta River in Jasper on a beautiful day in July! 🌊 Our trip was nothing short of exhilarating and completely exceeded our expectations. Our raft coach, Andy, was not only funny but incredibly informative about the stunning landscape surrounding us. Despite our minimal prior rafting experience, my girls and I had a memorable time on the water. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for some adventure in Jasper.

Continuous Rapids - Our family had a blast. We’ve gone rafting on the New River and a river in Colorado, but this was hands down more fun. Continuous rapids. Our guide, Jacob was so much fun and intentionally soak my daughter to add to her experience. Highly recommend.

Viator ruined my vacation - Viator is a terrible company to deal with. They messed up the booking on my tour 2 days in a row and ruined the last couple of days of my vacation. I stayed another day in jasper because they said they would rebook my tour so I stayed but they charged me for a new tour the next day and never contacted the tour operators so I want able to go on the tour when I arrived at the meeting point. They offered me no solutions for all my trouble and it took 30 minutes on the phone to get them to refund my money for their mistake. Please book with another company and save yourself the trouble and make sure your vacations are not ruined
