We visited with a small baby plus two older kids, and they were so helpful and accommodating with working around this! Baby wasn't old enough for the planetarium, but they helped with timing so that the adults and older kids could take … More

We were genuinely lucky as we had clear skies and about 2 hours of Northern Lights on show, so overall an incredible night. We paid for the extra package which included a walk into a darker area to be privately talked through what we could … More

We visited with a small baby plus two older kids, and they were so helpful and accommodating with working around this! Baby wasn't old enough for the planetarium, but they helped with timing so that the adults and older kids could take turns (and still meet up together for the telescope experience later). It kept our 4 and 6 year olds (plus mom and dad) enthralled the whole time, and our kiddos are asking about when we can go back!

Wow! Wow! Wow! - Enjoyed the whole experience. Planetarium was intimate and informative. Dress for the weather.
We had a beautiful almost totally clear night. Much to see. The telescopes were a cool experience. We saw Beetlejoice, Saturn, the 7 sisters and others.
This could be and should be set up with a permanent structure. The guides extremely knowledgeable and very good at sharing so all understood.
Totally worth it. Great experience.

A surprisingly wonderful tour near Jasper Park Lodge. - Well this is a different and totally fun Planetarium adventure. The planetarium is only open at night and Jasper is a Dark Sky area, so it is dark. The planetarium was just a couple of blocks away from our Cabin next to the Jasper Park Lodge. You meet at the Lodge and walk to the planetarium, so use your phone flashlight for a little help on dark and in our case icy and snowy walkways.
First we went into their domed planetarium like tent, that holds about 34 people. It was like a camp night adventure except with projections of stars instead of a campfire, and very comfortable seating (camp style). They have a 40 minute program that covers events in the sky and the Jasper Dark Sky Preserve. The narrator was very good and very knowledgeable. Afterwards we made the rounds of several different stations that talk about meteorites and share samples, watch instant replay of live views from their telescopes and have a chance to look through a variety of telescopes at the stars.
We are in our 70's and we were pretty tired by the end and pretty darn cold (we are from Arizona) so we decided to leave before it was over. The staff, in addition to being really smart, were so kind and helpful getting us back on the right path to our cabin. We stopped by the planetarium office on our way back and asked who these young men and women were in this very small town that were so knowledgeable. The manager told us they are mostly astrophysicists and a few space nerds. Very impressive and very very fun. Worth it!

Out of This World Experience! - This was our second time going and even though it was a little cloudy they really tried hard to give us a great viewing. It was delightful and everyone should go experience this, it is awesome!

NIGHT UNDER THE STARS - All members were very informative and you could tell they had a passion for astrology and the wonders of the universe. We had a bit of a cloudy night but they still managed to catch some stars for us and gave us a rain check for a better night.

Nice tour for the nerds - Very informative tour about the stars, planets, and the universe. Unfortunately, because of the cloudy conditions, I didn’t see much of the skies nor the Northern Lights. Did a bit of stargazing. Staff were very friendly and kind.

Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate! - The planetarium show seems a bit dated. The images seemed a bit washed out? Unfortunately, it was a cloudy night and bitterly cold so the star part didn't happen. Not their fault of course.

DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY - During our recent stay at Jasper Fairmont (March 24th - 26th, 2026), my husband and I , as well as two other couples who traveled with us, booked the 9:45 pm planetarium and telescope experience offered by the hotel. We found this to be not only a huge disappointment but clearly a misleading and fraudulent way to acquire revenue. Nothing prepared us for a makeshift igloo looking outdoor tent called a planetarium, with lawn chairs and a space heater in the middle. It was below freezing temperatures in Jasper! The video projection is 20 minutes long, with very loud music that masks any attempt of an explanation provided by the narrator. And of course, no refund for the "unused telescope experience" due to bad weather. Oh, but you can come back within two years and use the telescope.... After the 20 minutes video projection one of the members of the planetarium team asked all of us to gather around a drum barrel fire, to go over the next steps. Keep in mind, this is happening during a very windy night and as I mentioned before, below freezing temperatures. Then they directed us to another outdoor tent with a tv screen and NO SOURCE OF HEAT....NOT EVEN A SPACE HEATER! We lasted 3 minutes and had to ran back to the main building. What a fiasco!
My husband and I, as well as our friends are all retired and have saved our money after working very hard for many years to have a nice vacation. We all felt so defrauded for waisting approximately $150.00 per couple!

Do not understand positive reviews at all. - I totally don't understand the positive reviews. It's a tent (and no more than that) at a hotel resort.
As a family, you pay more than $200 for a standard 15min movie in a tent, with luxury lawn chairs. Then the “experience” continues even though it is too cloudy (at the entrance it is reported that the outlook is good) so you see nothing. So the telescope is also of no use (don't expect a very large one). In addition, in another marquee you get a short explanation (5-10min) about how the northern lights form and something about meteorites.
In short, a huge deception and totally not worth what they ask for this. Be honest ej don't let it continue if there's clouds. My tip is look up this information on the internet (are great sites that indicate whether it is clear enough per hour and the chance of northern lights) and drive yourself to pyramid lake.
