As a marine biologist, I have always been drawn to the mysteries of the underwater world. When I heard about the Lagoa Misteriosa in Jardim, Brazil, I knew it was a destination I had to explore. The promise of crystal-clear waters and the chance to dive into one of the deepest submerged caves in Brazil was too enticing to resist.

Upon arrival, the beauty of the surrounding riparian forest set the stage for the adventure that awaited. For those new to diving, a “baptism” dive allows you to reach a depth of 8 meters, accompanied by a guide. As someone with diving experience, I was eager to explore deeper into the lagoon’s depths.

Equipped with a cylinder, I descended into the lagoon, the water enveloping me in a cool embrace. The visibility was astounding, with more than 40 meters of clarity allowing me to see the submerged tree trunks and aquatic vegetation in vivid detail. The sun’s rays danced through the water, illuminating the golden leaves and small fish that flitted about, creating a mesmerizing underwater ballet.

The guides were attentive and well-prepared, ensuring that every diver felt safe and comfortable. Their expertise and passion for the lagoon were evident, and their guidance made the experience all the more enriching.
