A Day of Sun, Sea, and Scrumptious Lobster in Negril
Our family trip to Jamaica was all about sun, sand, and adventure. The Negril Lobster Lunch and Snorkeling excursion promised a day of exploration and fun, and it delivered beyond expectations. Join me as I recount our unforgettable day on Booby Cay!
Setting Sail on a Family Adventure
Our family trip to Jamaica was filled with sun, sand, and a sprinkle of adventure. As a travel writer who loves crafting family-friendly itineraries, I was on the lookout for an experience that would be both exciting and educational for my kids. Enter the Negril Lobster Lunch and Snorkeling excursion. After a few scheduling hiccups due to New Year’s Eve festivities and some uncooperative weather, we finally embarked on our adventure on the last full day of our vacation. And let me tell you, it was worth every moment of anticipation!
Captain Jace and his energetic crew picked us up right from our hotel on Seven Mile Beach. The kids were immediately captivated by the lively atmosphere on the boat, complete with music and laughter. As we cruised towards Booby Cay, the crew shared fascinating tidbits about the area, setting the stage for a day of exploration and fun.
Underwater Wonders and Island Delights
Once we reached the snorkeling spot, the crew ensured everyone was comfortable with the safety procedures before we plunged into the crystal-clear waters. Having snorkeled in various parts of the Caribbean, I was eager to see what this location had to offer. The vibrant coral and diverse marine life did not disappoint. Our snorkel guide was fantastic, especially with the kids, pointing out starfish and sand dollars, and even letting them hold these underwater treasures.
The highlight for me was the sunken cannon and boat anchor, remnants of a bygone era that sparked the kids’ imaginations. They were thrilled to learn about the history of pirates and battles that once took place in these waters. After everyone had their fill of snorkeling, we headed to Booby Cay for a much-anticipated lunch.
A Feast Fit for a Family
Booby Cay was a picturesque setting for our island picnic. As we explored the small island, we encountered local vendors and a charming limestone beach. But the real star of the show was the lunch prepared by Captain Jace. The freshly grilled lobster, accompanied by rice and peas and cooked vegetables, was hands down the best meal of our trip. The flavors were so delightful that I jokingly suggested Captain Jace should open a restaurant!
As we sailed back to our hotel, the boat was alive with music and dancing. The kids even got a chance to steer the boat, a memory they will cherish forever. This excursion was not just a day of fun and food; it was a bonding experience that brought our family closer together. If you’re planning a trip to Negril, make sure to include this unforgettable adventure in your itinerary. It’s a day of discovery, delicious food, and delightful company that you won’t want to miss!
