• Glodok Chinatown Market - The day tour begins with a visit to Glodok Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown in Jakarta. Known as “Glodok,” this area features open markets, small shops with traditional Chinese architecture, narrow alleys, and charmingly weathered buildings, making it a photographer’s dream. Guests will visit the Petak Sembilan Chinese temple, dedicated to the Buddhist goddess of mercy, Kuan Yin, built around 1650.
• Wayang Museum - Next, guests will visit the Puppet Museum, housed in an old Dutch colonial building with an impressive collection of Javanese leather “Wayang” puppets, wooden “Golek” puppets, and masks from Indonesia and around the world. The site also includes the former graveyard of a Dutch Governor General.

Guests will enjoy a brief Puppet Show, where the “Dalang” or Puppet player entertains in English. After the show, there is an opportunity to learn about puppet-making.

• Jakarta History Museum (Fatahillah Museum) - The tour continues to the Jakarta Historical Museum, originally constructed by the Dutch in 1707 as Jakarta City Hall or “stad huis.” The museum is furnished with antique furniture, porcelain, old maps, portraits, an underwater jail, and other items used by former Dutch Governor Generals.
• Kota Intan Bridge - The tour proceeds to the Kota Intan Drawbridge. Located at the north end of Kali Besar, this small 17th-century Dutch drawbridge is the last of its kind in the city.
• Sunda Kelapa Harbour - Finally, guests will visit Sunda Kelapa Harbor, located a kilometer north of Taman Fatahillah. This historic port is home to magnificent Makassar schooners (pinisi). The dock scene has remained unchanged for centuries, with porters unloading cargo from these sailing ships by hand and trolley. Unfortunately, the port itself is now rundown, and its waters are heavily polluted.
