• Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - The House of Virgin Mary is a significant pilgrimage site for Christians, where Mary is believed to have spent her last 10 years with John the Apostle in Ephesus. Pope Paul VI visited the shrine in 1967 and ‘unofficially’ confirmed its authenticity. Pope John Paul II visited in 1979, and Pope Benedict XVI in 2006. The question of whether she died in Ephesus was unknown until Anne Catherine Emmerich’s vision. A disabled German nun who had never visited Ephesus, she envisioned the House of the Virgin Mary and described it in detail to German writer Clemens Brentano, who later published a book about it. Catherine Emmerich passed away in 1884. In 1891, Paul, Superior of the Lazarists from Izmir, read about her visions and discovered a small building matching Emmerich’s descriptions. This led to archaeological work, allowing us to visit Mary’s House today!

• The Temple of Artemis - Artemis, the Greek goddess, was the virginal huntress and twin of Apollo, who replaced the Titan Selene as Goddess of the Moon. The ancient temple, built around 650 BC for the cult of Artemis, was constructed on a site already sacred to the Anatolian Mother Goddess, Cybele. Financed by the wealthy king of Lydia, the marshy ground was chosen as a precaution against future earthquakes. Over time, it has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to natural disasters.
• Selcuk - We will pass through Selcuk Town, offering a glimpse into local life in this quaint town near the Ephesus Ruins.
